On Tonight, September 16, at 7 pm on Zoom, the HPCC Community Meeting will feature the two "Arts in the Park" artists selected to create installations for Highland Park:
- Marlana Adele Vassar: Marlana Adele Vassar is a Pittsburgh artist exploring ways to share her art that will enhance the City. She has 15 years of experience across a variety of mediums and her current focus is on creating distinctive public art with a balance of style and substance. Her artistic philosophy is “art is everywhere, and the ordinary has the potential to be extraordinary.” Marlana's website is here: https://marlana.me/ and you can provide her feedback here: https://engage.pittsburghpa.gov/art-parks/marlana-adele-vassar
- The Urban Conga: The Urban Conga is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Brooklyn, NY. They are made up of a diverse group of creatives focused on sparking community activity and social interaction through open-ended play. They achieve this by putting the community first in the design process by hosting a series of participatory design workshops to develop multiple concepts for the artwork. The workshops arwill be focused on sparking a playful dialog around the past, present, and future of Highland Park. They will be starting this dialog at the next council meeting on Sept 16th and will be hosting a workshop at the park on Sept 18th (details coming soon).
