Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Pittsburgh police announced today that they have arrested a man suspected of burglarizing 12 homes in the Highland Park area.

Burglary squad detectives Michael Pilyih, Greg Schanck and John Mihalcin were doing surveillance in the neighborhood Friday when they noticed Steve McQuillan in the 900 block of Mellon Street. They knew he was wanted on a burglary warrant already.

When Mr. McQuillan spotted the detectives, he fled but was caught.
Police said the suspect was staying at an apartment in the area and was committing burglaries within walking distance to support a drug habit.

He is accused of breaking into nine homes in Higland Park, two in East Liberty and one in Stanton Heights since mid-July. Police said jewelry, Playstations and music CDs were often taken.
