THE CENSUS DEADLINE IS NOW
SEPTEMBER 30, 2020

For every person in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County that is not counted, we lose about $2,000 a year in federal funding for critical services like transportation, schools, hospitals, roads and other community improvements. 

The recent announcement by the federal government that the census deadline has been moved up by one month means we must get our neighbors to complete Census 2020 by September 30, 2020.

CENSUS WEEK OF ACTION
Join the Complete Count Committee starting today, August 18, in the Census Week of Action:
TUESDAY: SOCIAL MEDIA DAY OF ACTION
Frame the Conversation Online by sharing why you were counted – or why it’s important to be counted – before the 2020 Census ends on your social media.
  • Use #BeCounted #B4Its2Late to highlight your participation 
  • Put a frame on your Facebook media profile pic to let your friends know you've been counted. You can find the frame on the Allegheny County Facebook page OR click on your profile pic > update profile picture > add frame > search "Pittsburgh Census" and choose one of the two frames available. 
WEDNESDAY: FRIENDS & FAMILY DAY OF ACTION
Get in touch with your friends and family to ask if they've completed the census by:
  • Call, text or email at least 10 people
  • Share information on how they can participate if they haven't already (my2020census.gov or call 1-844-330-2020) 
THURSDAY: #BECOUNTED VIDEO PREMIERE

Be sure to share the video with your social networks or on your neighborhood's Facebook page! 
FRIDAY: TEXT OUT THE COUNT
The Complete County Committee and its partners will be sending a text to tens of thousands of people in hard to count communities - those communities with lower self-reporting rates. It's particularly urgent for these residents as census data is used to provide needed services, representation and community revitalization efforts. 
 
SATURDAY & SUNDAY: CENSUS SABBATH
Calling all worshippers and communities of faith! Share information about the Census and its September 30 deadline with your communities this weekend.
Each and every one of us is part of “We the People” and we refuse to be excluded.

There are only 44 days left until the end of the census. Help us get our neighborhoods counted. 

The self-response rate of Allegheny County residents is 69%, which is higher than the state’s rate of 66.6% and the federal rate of 63.6%. Even though the self-response rates are nearing the 71.3% level that was reached in the 2010 census, leaders still want to exceed that number and remain concerned with ensuring that hard to count communities are included in the count.
