Hey neighbors!
It's Monday, and Farmers Market day here in the east end! The market has moved and is kind of small, but it's new, and NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!
Mondays
3:30 - 7pm
100 Larimer Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
Many may remember when we had access to a farmers market two days a week.. back in the 90s - Mondays Penn Circle and Thursday's at the Zoo. Then the market moved from the Zoo (not sure why) and we only had the Penn Circle market. The space was always only temporary, but we loved it, and many pouted when it was used for housing instead. Its other temporary location across the street was not ideal, with its lack of parking and small amount of space that limited the vendors.
The location today, and every Monday through Thanksgiving, is at the new Liberty Green park, near Larimer Avenue and East Liberty Boulevard. It's in an awesome park, and there are some great vendors, many of them new and doing their best to get their businesses off the ground. There are some old favorites as well.
This site will be permanent, if the market survives. Markets take years to establish, and granted the past few years have been rough, but we still have a market!! We need to support it or we won't have a market.
If that's not enough to encourage you, let me point out that many of us are fortunate that we can drive to one of the other 20+ markets in the City. For the sake of our neighbors who depend on this market for their food access, please consider attending and supporting the Citiparks Farmers Market at Liberty Green today! 330-7!
Thanks!
