In honor of the new Batman movie hitting the 'big screen- 'HOLY RESPONSES ABOUT DAVEY TREES, BATMAN!"........ I received many, many responses about this topic.   So many of you had major complaints about the 'butchering' of the trees that Davey Trees did 'service'; and many more have the same situation as we do - receiving the door tag with specifics about trees, shrubs on your property and saying they will be pruned, etc., and never seeing anything done!

I did call Duquense Light and left a message for the supervisor of tree trimming/vegetation - he called me; left a message - I called him and left a message...... I will call him Thursday, 7/19 in the morning.  I will also tell him of how our neighborhood is unhappy with the work Davey Trees has done.

I find this all pretty crazy - another story to share with those who wish to continue to read...... this one began in March, this year,......we have 'City' trees on rental property; the City does trim the low branches annually;  now that the trees are in full growth of leaves, etc., they are blocking 'Dish Network' cable signals for the tenants on the uppers floors.  I called '311' a few times asking for assistance with the trees; after the fourth or fifth call with no action being taken - and with responses from the 311 operators stating have the tenant cancel the Dish service and get a different cable provider; or hire a tree trimmer your self; and when I asked if the 'City' or Mayor office would pay for that service; I got a chuckle from the operator!!  Finally
one 311 operator really listened to my call and told me to call Public Works/Forestry Division (which is located on Stanton near the park entrance for the pool and Lake Carnegie).  Call them and spoke to a very nice gentleman - he said they do not trim tree tops and 'you' are not permitted to top off trees, etc., but can hire an insured company to trim the trees - but need to obtain a permit from the Forestry Division (he was nice enough to drop it in our mailbox the same day!).  But isn't this nutso - I have to pay for the trimming of City trees that are on my property!?!?!?  ...and even more so is that Duquense Light has tree company's as Davey Trees and when they 'butcher', 'top off' or 'V' out a tree it is 'ok'?!?!?  If we would even attempt to cut City trees ourselves - we get slapped with a fine!!!!  Go figure out that system!

Thanks again for all the input and 'listening' to me rant and rave...... I am fully charged on this topic......
again, sorry for rambling.

.......oh, and don't get me started again on 'Lake Carnegie' - the HP pond - it is still a disgrace!!!!! UGH!

Have a happy day and stay cool neighbors!

Sue :)

Subject: [Highland Park] Duquesne Light / Davey Trees

Hi!

Anyone receive a door tag in March/April this year from Duquesne Light / Davey Trees regarding the trimming and pruning of overgrown trees/shrubs/bushes, etc., from power lines that would be no cost to 'you'?  If so - has your property been serviced by Davey Trees??  I am asking because we received the door tag and have had estimates from other tree trimmers for other overgrown trees on our property; the independent tree trimmers stated to wait until Davey does what Duquesne Light needs them to do; which means they did not see any evidence of Davey doing the job yet..... so I just called the phone number on the door tag and the rep from Davey Trees said they we in the HP area in early May and is trying to tell me that those trees and shrubs they trimmed could have grown back since they were here!     I am VERY skeptical that they did not do the work at all! Just wanted to know if others in our neighborhood have had the same situation.

I did call the Tree Trimming Dept of Duquesne Light and they are having the Mgmt Dept call me back.

Thanks for reading and any responses  :)
Sue on N. Highland
