I inherited an old (1970s?) sewing machine from my mother a number of years ago. Obviously, I'm not a sewer -- I've never used it! But I'm thinking it would be nice to use it for simple things, like making curtains. My question is: does anyone know someone who (1) could give it a "tune-up" and (2) show me the basics of how to get started using it?
