Are there any in the East End? Do you know where to recycle running shoes?

Subject: RE: [Highland Park] Upcoming Hard to Recycle and Household Chemical Collections

There aren’t any collections scheduled for the East End area/ however, many items can be recycled at Construction Junction http://constructionjunction.org/– but, they do not accept any household chemicals at CJ. Please let me know if you have a specific item or several that you are looking to recycle or reuse, and I’ll do some research and get back to you.

Running shoes are accepted by Nike in their reuse a shoe program: http://www.nikereuseashoe.com/ or you can bring them to the Hard to Recycle collection on Saturday and drop off for reuse.
Here is a link to a recent article with addresses of local drop offs for batteries, cell phones, ink & toner cartridges and CFLs ( cfl’s are only accepted at PRC’s south side location) http://togetherweflourish.com/2011/08/24/prc-is-making-recycling-easy-for-pittsburgh-area-residents/

Thank you so much for the questions! Hope this information helps. You can always visit http://www.zerowastepgh.org/res-index.html  for a current collection schedule and a list of resources. Or just keep my email address if it’s easier.
