Pittsburgh, PA - The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival is celebrating its 13th year of making the cultural heritage of past civilizations better known to a diverse audience.

In addition to the Virtual Edition, October 13-19, 2025, the "Best of the Arkhaios Official Selection films" will be screened in-person during the week of the Arkhaios festival at reputed Art Museums, Archaeology Museums, and Universities.

2025 Arkhaios SHORT Films

The Arkhaios SHORT Films competition presents future talents in filmmaking. Recognizing the important role short independent films have in the history of filmmaking, storytelling, and culture, Arkhaios helps empower the next generation of artists and scientists attracted to telling the stories of our past in less than twenty minutes or so.

The Arkhaios Virtual Edition allows for all the films to be viewed at any time during the week of the festival, from Monday, October 13 @ 9 am EST through Sunday, October 19 till midnight EST.

The Awards Winners will be announced online Saturday, October 18, 2025, 5pm EST.

2025 Arkhaios Film Festivals – In-Person

Eminent organizations will be screening, in-person, the "Best of the Arkhaios Official Selection films" during the week of the Arkhaios festival.
Located in various states: Texas, Illinois, Alabama, South Carolina, the organizations represent prestigious Art Museums, Archaeology Museums, and Universities.

The multi-day Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival is an annual juried competition, part of Archaeology Month celebration. It is free, open to the public, and is an educational event showcasing the discovery of past cultures gained from ethnological or archaeological research, and illustrated through documentary films.

The Arkhaios Film Festival is sponsored by the SC Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA) and the Department of Anthropology of the University of South Carolina, and, in Pennsylvania, by the Department of Anthropology of the University of Pittsburgh, and the Allegheny Chapter #1 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology.

The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Events corporation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization producing the Arkhaios Film Festivals in South Carolina and in Pennsylvania, when possible. A worldwide Virtual Edition has been added to screen the films online.
