Morning! I am offering some private tutoring and swimming lessons this summer. I am a certified reading specialist, elementary school teacher, gifted and talented educator, and have over 2 decade of swim lessons and coaching experience. Please see below for descriptions of opportunities! Private swim lessons at Highland Park or your pool: Have references available. Great for refresher lessons for the new swimming year, beginners looking to swim more independently, those trying to conquer fears, kids interested in strengthening freestyle, backstroke, and breast stroke, etc. With kids, I use a mix of skills and play based teaching styles to make the lessons more enjoyable. Academics Background: My undergraduate is in Elementary Education with a focus in reading focus. My Masters of Education with Reading Specialist K-12 is from The University of Pittsburgh. I have been working as a teacher at Dilworth since 2008 in various roles, including ELA and Gifted and Talented. I also teach remedial groups using Sonday to support high level reading remediation needs. Reading tutoring: I am a certified K-12 reading specialist, but my niche is elementary school. I specialize in dyslexia support using Sonday, which is a branch of the Orton Gillingham research based system of remediation. I prescreen your child to determine their needs and teach at their independently level. Gifted and Talented Emersion: As a 13 year veteran of teaching Gifted and Talented, I have experience working with students on exposing them to thinking strategies such as logic, analogies, puzzling, coding, etc. These sessions would be intended to support opportunities to better understand various gifted and talented cognitive tasks. Please reach out to me if you are interested with information on your child’s age, grade, and area interested in for private lessons/tutoring. I prefer tutoring in the morning/early afternoon, but am flexible on swim times. Hourly Rate: $40/hour. Recommendation for academics is one full hour and swimming a minimum of a half hour.
