Last chance to sign up for our Embroidery Sampler Workshop on 7/9/22! **REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY, JULY 1st** We will follow along the Creativebug website to learn a variety of embroidery stitches. Here is the description from their website: This workshop starts with the very basics of embroidery – setting up a hoop and threading needles – and dives into a visual encyclopedia of the most common stitches. Rebecca Ringquist teaches straight stitches before moving onto decorative and knotted stitches, including the elusive French knot. Along the way, she offers tips for smooth embroidery and examples from her stitched artwork as inspiration. This workshop will take place on Saturday, July 9th from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Leatherwood Art Studio, New Bethlehem PA. Appetizers will be served, please BYOB. Greetings Neighbors, The pandemic impacted the availability of swim lessons greatly and the result is that my soon-to-be-first-grader can't swim :( . I'm looking for someone with experience in teaching children to swim that can work with my 6 year old son this summer. Preference for lessons taking place outside (we do not have our own pool, so would need to meet somewhere) We are traveling some this summer, so the sooner we could start, the better. June was hopping here in the neighborhood! The HPCC brought back several events and hosted multiple community meetings. We’re happy to have you as our friends, neighbors and family. I have a trans child, and while parts of the world can be very scary and dangerous for trans individuals (and other people “under the rainbow”), our friends and neighbors in Highland Park have been nothing but supportive and loving. Wouldn’t it be something if everyone felt respected and welcomed wherever they went? We can at least continue to try and make that a reality in our little corner of the world. The funds will go to outreach partners including EECM, Neighborhood Academy, Hello Neighbor, Treasure House Fashions and Off the Floor Pittsburgh. Jazz on the Lawn returned on Saturday, June 25. Pianist Joseph Sheehan, bassist Paul Thompson and drummer Jason Washington Jr. shared their talents and Highland Park’s own Jak’s Bakery sold a delicious menu of sweet and savory items as well as salads, a chilled soup and drinks. This August children ages kindergarten through fifth grade can attend Vacation Bible School on August 23, 24 and 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Dinner will be provided.
