He came to our house a few weeks ago-said he was a neighbor and gave me an elaborate story about where he worked (far away) and that he just got off work. It was late at night- maybe after midnight. We were up and our porch light was on. I think he said his last name was Jenkins. I told him we didn't have any cash. I live on Jackson near Heberton.

I am sending this on behalf of Jan Stayianos, Crimewatch, HPCC I was shocked to see so many responses about our resident scam artist. I can only imagine how many doors he has knocked on that we don't know about and how many people have given him money. At a meeting on Tuesday (8/2) night at Fulton, I met two families who had given him money just days before. Until yesterday I had only gotten a call from a woman in Friendship. Then I got a call from a mother in Highland Park who found "Tony" in her yard talking to her children!! It is imperative NOT to give him money and to call 911 IMMEDIATELY if he approaches you. Then I would really appreciate your calls so that I can try to get an idea of his habits. 412-363-8208. Also, if anyone can give me a description of his bike or where he keeps it, that would be great. For instance, does he chain it to a stop sign, hide it in the bushes, etc. Tell everyone you know who might not have access to email (like me). I am working with zone 5 to try to find out about him. Even though you all seem to think his name is "Tony," it may not be. We need you help. 412-363-8208

Thanks, -Rudy Weekend Intensive in Stained Glass Union Project has announced a weekend stained glass restoration class that will repair and restore a large stained glass window that was removed from a six unit apartment building at 839 N. Mellon Street, just one block from the Union Project. The Mellon Street property is part of a $4 Million renovation project of HPCDC and ELDI aimed at renovating 12 houses and a 7 unit apartment building all in the southwest quadrant of Highland Park. The weekend stained glass restoration class is being planned for August 12-14. Class members will pay $250 to learn the craft of stained glass restoration, while at the same time providing valuable assistance to three local non-profit organizations that serve East Liberty and Highland Park. Hello to everyone out there. I was a resident of Highland Park for 11 yrs and I loved it. Due to circumstances I had to move from the area. I am a 46 yr old, newly single mom of two and I attend school 4 evenings a week. My problem, I need work to supplement my support payments. I am available weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm. [Highland Park] Highland Park Walk Tonight at 6:30pm!

Hello, Neighbors - How much do you know about our neighborhood park? Have you seen the Babbling Brook? Do you know the history of the Negley Monument? Did you know that Lake Carnegie was once double its current size?...and where did it go? The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy's free monthly walk in Highland Park is taking place this evening from 6:30 - 8:00pm. Rudy Maceyko and I lead this walk the first Wednesday of every month. The 2 mile route is easy and along the way we will provide a brief history of the park, identify some of the plant species that are growing along the paths and highlight special areas of the park, such as the Babbling Brook, Lake Carnegie, the Negley Monument and of course the beautiful fountain and surrounding gardens. If you plan to attend, please wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle. We hope to see you at 6:30pm at the fountain! Jessica Pedersen

[Highland Park] Request for good concrete contractors

We're looking for a reliable, quality cement and concrete contractor to do some work on our porches (new steps and railings, skim coats to fix cracks) as soon as we can get them. The numbers for both Eric Gerber and Lou Scampone (in the Highland Park tradesman list) are out of service. DiBucci does great work but is extremely busy and difficult to book (at least I've found so). Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. - Eric

Last night our cat "Cuddles" went for a walk and has not returned - He is quite old -about 17 and is orange w/white markings. He has bad vision and hearing - we live at 1217 Heberton and we think he cannot have gone far - phone us if you see him 412-389-2175 my cell Thanks Kelly Meade
