[Highland Park] Dish deinstaller wanted

I own a 1 1/2-story carriage house right off Negley at Wellesley which has THREE (count 'em, three) satellite dishes on top: one DirecTV dish came with the house, and Dish Network installed two more earlier this year when I started service with them. Dissatisfied with Dish, I switched to Comcast. Dish Network now wants their equipment back. Comcast claimed that they were able to remove satellite dish equipment but in reality that hasn't been the case. If you or someone you know has the time, know-how, and equipment to remove satellite dishes from a roof, please let me know as soon as you can. I have 2 small things I am giving away The first is a coupon to see the current movie, Transporter2, in theaters now. The coupon is good until 9/24/05, and will get you up to $7.50 off of the movie. I already saw the movie, and will not be able to use the coupon. If interested, please let me know today. The other one is a Ryobi HP961K 9.6V cordless screwdriver kit. The screwdriver met with an unfortunate fate, but I have the case, 2 batteries, and the charger. If you have one of these models, this would be a good addition to your set. I have no use for the batteries or charger, but they are still in working order. If interested, please let me know. No time limit on these, since I can not throw anything away, and will hold on to them until I can find a good home for them (I already have a good home). Bob

I am helping someone to organize a charity benefit variety show to help Hurricane Katrina victims. It is going to be held at the Rex Theatre on the Southside, next Thursday evening, September 29 from 8 pm until... The admission price of $7 will go to Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army Relief Fund. Because of the bar at the Rex, only over 21 admitted. If you would like a copy of the flyer, please email me and I will send you a pdf. In the meantime, I have posted a flyer at Tazza d'Oro. My singing group will be one of the performers. There will also be magic, dance, comedy, storytelling, etc. Please tell your friends and colleagues.

I just sent through a bunch of replies in the cell reception thread--I don't plan to send any more through unless they really add something new. Probably what we should do is have folks send mail to someone to collect and summarize the results. Bob has been moderating the list but is unavailable this week (probably since he was flamed for sending that message through about LaForet... :-) so I have the reins but not much time to look at messages except in the evenings. A number of years ago (~15?) there was a rash of thefts of copper downspouts in the neighborhood. Many houses (ours included) and St. Andrew's Church were hit. A middle aged guy from Morningside was eventually arrested for the thefts. His hearings kept getting put off, so I never did find out the final disposition of the case. At any rate, yes, the value of scrap copper is high enough for someone to attempt this. Hi, I'll repeat my comment from the last time this discussion was going on. I live on N. St. Clair (between Bryant and Hampton). I used to carry a Verizon cell phone for work purposes - it was totally unreliable - lost the signal regularly, usually in the middle of a call, even from my third floor. For my personal use, I have Sprint - and have had them for the past 6 years. I get great reception from home - always 5 bars. I have never lost a signal at home and rarely anywhere else. Claudette
