I had my car parked on Jackson between N. Euclid and Beatty with my rear passenger window half open. I did this to keep my car from being too hot (during the hot weather we had) while I showed the house that is for sale there. Somebody was kind enough to go into my car and take my cell phone. [Highland Park] Weekend Extravaganza - Mind, Body, Spirit at Eastminster Church

Dear Friends, Eastminster Church will be hosting a Health Fitness Fair and Car Wash this Saturday (9am-2pm) and Sunday (noon - 3pm). Doctors and nurses from East Liberty Health Care Center will be on hand for Health Screenings including BMI Body Mass Index, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, HIV and Cholestrol screening will be available. Eastminster's Youth Group will be washing cars on Saturday. Assorted Healthy Salads will be for sale as well. You can also tour Eastminster's new Fitness Center and meet center director Percy Fonville. Get a salad, get your car washed, all for a good cause. Hey guys, My husband Bruce and I have lived here for four years, and I just found this list last month. Better late than never, right? I'm glad to see it here, I'm from the south and grew up knowing all my neighbors so it was heartening to find something like this. And now, a couple of questions: 1. I was overjoyed to discover 8-9 new baby ducks in the reservoir. Not sure if you know, but some other newborns died of malnutrition. Let's pray that these little darlings live long and prosper :) I did see them crawling up the reservoir's sides, so that is a good sign. Before the other newborns died, however, I saw a bunch of "tween" boys throwing rocks at them! >:o( I spoke to them about it, but they ignored me. Is there some person or place I could report this to? I sure don't want it to happen again. The reservoir is such a beautiful place, and we'd all like to keep it that way. 2. Second question, much less serious-------------any ladies know of a good/cheap place around here to get a decent pedicure? The place I go to charges $45, which I can't always swing. At my sister's in Richmond, we go to a place that's clean, efficient, and you can get a mani/pedi for $45. Yeah, I know, not a life or death question :) but with summer here the feets need to look good, ya know? Thanks guys, have a great rest of the week, Jenee Libby - Wellesley Avenue p.s. [Highland Park] Outdoor Rat Problem

Hi there neighbors, We found a rat in our backyard over the weekend and last night, thanks to another's neighbor's help with a trap, we successfully trapped him alive. One of our neighbors who has lived in HP for over 40 years had never seen one here. We "live" in our backyard in the summer, so we could do without the rats. (Even though the one we caught is kind of cute and almost looks like a pet, we still don't want them around) We have children and a pet, so rat poison is out of the question. 1. Question: what do we do with the rat now that he is trapped? 2. Could there be more than just this one? ( I'm guessing yes...) 3. Is there a city office that handles these kinds of problems? 4. There is a property next to ours that has a large pile of brush in the backyard that has been there for about a year. Could this be the nesting place for the critters? Hello Neighhbors, Early this morning (probably sometime between 1 and 4 AM) my car was hit with eggs. I appear to be the only one on the street (lucky me), but was wondering if anyone else got hit.
