LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD HEARING SCHEDULED Regarding Sandy's Deli a.k.a. Highland Park Deli Thursday, July 6th, 2006 10:30 am Two Parkway Center 875 Greentree Road, Suite G-8 Pittsburgh, PA 15220 CARPOOLING IS AVAILABLE On July 6th 2006 there will be a hearing concerning Sandy's Deli a.k.a. Highland Park Deli, and the transfer of liquor license to allow the establishment to sell beer and other malt beverages. For the future good of our neighborhood, we need to stop this transfer. The only argument we, as neighbors, can make is whether Sanford Mankin is a reputable and responsible individual as required under the Liquor Code. Since he has show over the past 10 years that he is not, we have a strong case, and we need a mass of people to show up at the hearing to get the message across. However, in addition to our complaint, there are TEN other complaints that the city, state and Liquor Control Board have against this transfer, including "The Board shall take evidence to determine whether it should permit the operation of another business (deli) on the licensed premises, pursuant to Section 3.52(c) of Title 40 Pennsylvania Code." In addition to that, the main complaint comes from Jim Ferlo and a protest was also filed by one of our favorite Police Commanders Maurita Bryant! We have a chance to make real and lasting CHANGE in our community. Please come to the hearing and show your support. "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD" BE PART OF A FILM SHOOT SATURDAY JULY 1, 2006 5:00 PM AT THE POINT On Saturday July 1st at 5 p.m., Pittsburghers, past and present, near and far, are invited to join Mr. McFeely (David Newell) to sing "It's A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood" at The Point. This once-in-a-lifetime event is part of the grand finale of "A TALE OF TWO CITIES", a movie we are making about Pittsburgh-- the city which built America with its steel, cured polio and invented everything from aluminum to the Big Mac which now is being challenged to reinvent itself. For the film, we have tossed a football with Franco Harris and his son Dok on the North Side, shopped in the Strip with Teresa Heinz Kerry, and toured the new Alcoa building with Paul O' Neill, asking them and many other Pittsburghers how they see the city's future. Hours Sunday mornings 8:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m (July and August 8:15-11:15). The Nursery Attendant supervises the Nursery with care for a small number of infants and toddlers during the Sunday morning worship and education hours. Previous childcare experience and references are required. The position require a minimum age of 18. [Highland Park] House Tour - Postponed

The majority of homeowners who were contacted this year were not interested in showing their homes until 2007, so we have decided that it is better to postpone the tour than scramble this year to put together a small one. Back in 2004 the Highland Park Community Planning process produced a planning document which was available the "Highland Park Community" web site which has since gone off-line.
