Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had a positive experience with tree trimmers in the highland park area? Davey Tree & Lawn care is listed in the HP Tradespersons recommendations as just "OK." [Highland Park] Porch Lights and Prayers for Mayor Bob O'Connor

Hello Fellow Pittsburgher: If you are like me you want to express your best wishes to Mayor Bob O'Connor, but just don't know how. I went to buy a bracelet and they were all gone and the prayer service was during the day when I work. So I propose that we let the Mayor know he is in our hearts and prayers, by asking all Pittsburghers to turn on their Porch lights beginning at 8 pm and ending at 10 pm on Friday September 1, 2006 as part of "PIttsburgh Porchlight and Prayers for Mayor Bob O'Connor." This gesture is something that all Pittsburghers can do to express our prayers and Best Wishes to the Mayor O'Connor and his family. Please pass this through your email list of friends and family from throughout the City of Pittsburgh and let's let him know we care! [Highland Park] burglary on Wellesley

Dear Neighbors, We've joined the ranks of the recently robbed. Two adult bikes (one with a baby seat on the back) were taken from our garage sometime between 9 pm last night and 8 am this morning. CDs were also taken from the cars, as well as, perhaps most disturbingly, the garage door opener (does that mean they're planning on coming back?). We're at 5915 Wellesley, and our garage opens on the alley Wellston. Michelle Butler

[Highland Park] Strange Characters on Farragut St

We pulled up to our house (on street parking) tonight around 10:20ish. On the opposite side of the street were 2 African Americans all dressed in black. When we pulled up they stopped - almost trying not to be seen in the shadows along the sidewalk. We waited in our car for a minute and they started walking up Farragut toward Wellsley. They kept walking very slow and at one point they split up and I only saw one going up to the stop sign. It was very dark, but it looked like the one was walking up a driveway. WEIRD! My boyfriend said to take off. With everything that has been happening we didn't want to take a chance of getting jumped or anything. We drove the East Liberty Police Station and reported it. We came right back home and within 5 minutes 2 police cars were here. We explained everything to them and they are out looking right now. So, For those of you that are up late reading this, please be especially aware tonight. ~Tara on Farragut

Well, my mountain bike was also stolen from our garage about 2 weeks ago. Its a green bike and it had a mounting bar for a child seat and a bracket to attach a trailer bike. And this morning, we discovered broken glass on our side walk. Looks like a broken car window. this explains a large boom noise I heard last night. We're on the 900 block of Farragut street.
