In Your Home Any Age, Any Style Teacher with 25 Years of Experience I only have room for 4 more students, but I want to fill my schedule, so I’m offering you the first lesson for free! I get you playing guitar right away! Easy, gentle, student-friendly approach. You will be playing along to one of your favorite songs right after your first lesson. On the way, you will also learn things that will help you teach yourself and progress faster. These include music theory related to the guitar, the ideas behind the structures of songs, and how to use the guitar to create your own music! I specialize in coming to your home, but you can come to my home studio. The fees are $50 per hour to teach in your home, and $35 per hour to teach in my home studio. I cover the following Pittsburgh areas and neighborhoods: the East End generally, Oakland, Highland Park, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, Regent Square, Edgewood, Swissvale, Wilkinsburg, Aspinwall, Fox Chapel, and O'Hara Township (and nearby places like Shaler and Sharpsburg). Dear Neighbors, My son's Cub Scout Pack, Pack 274, is holding their fall recruitment meeting Monday, September 20th at 6:45pm at Liberty School in Shadyside. We recruit kids from Liberty as well as Dillworth and homeschoolers in the area, but are open to any boys who are interested. What do they do? Cub Scouts meet weekly and learn new skills and spend time with other boys their age as well as with a parent or other interested adult. Our Pack also camps yearly as a Pack and has a pinewood derby race, annual bake-off, annual talent show, plans trips to hike and is open to any other ideas participating families may come up with. Subject: Pittsburgh, Pa Koy, a sweet 4 year old purebred white German Shephard needs a new home If interested, please call Joanne, Koy's grandma at 412-436-6493 Koy's owner is moving and cannot take Koy with him. his owner's mom called me and she is so worried about Koy getting a good home she cannot keep him because she has an aggressive dog who does not like other dogs. if she didn't have her aggressive dog, then Koy would definitely be coming to her house. Koy is 4 year old neutered and up to date on all of his shots. He loves other dogs and is great with kids and adults alike. He is house trained and walks well on a leash.. He has never been around cats so we think his new home should have no cats. She said he is all white even though his picture makes him look like he's tan it was the lighting when they took the pix. Koy weighs about 70-75 lbs she thinks...maybe a little more. She wants him to get a loving home who will make him a part of their family and keep him inside except for his walks and his potty breaks. To All Concerned Parties, Sorry for the delay in communication (and response to community follow-up). I had to travel out of town for business and therefore, until today, had been unable to give this my fullest attention. Thank you Mr. Hance and Councilman Dowd for communicating this issue with the community. Both emails were encouraging - after reading them, I am optimistic that the problem is going to be solved. I personally became concerned for this HPCDC project when I was informed that the basement, like many others in Highland Park, was backing up with sewage. It is clear that powerful city officials have advocated for the "Park Bruge" project (and thus, Highland Park) from the onset of HPCDC's revitalization efforts. After all, as Mr. Hance mentioned, Councilman Dowd brought the issue to the PWSA's attention. Unfortunately, when this same overflow happened to a number of homeowners on Bryant Street specifically, the PWSA's response was less than acceptable (as evidenced by our numerous alerts, complaints, and pleas for remediation to the PWSA and their subsequent assurance that the problem was NOT THE MAIN SEWER LINE but rather our lateral lines, downspouts, floor drains, etc.). From these and from many publicly available consumer accounts, the PWSA, quite often [*not always*], falls short of the mark in terms of providing accountable and adequate city-wide service. I would also like to note that the affected homeowners on Bryant Street (*unlike the HPCDC*) were (are) required to live day-to-day amidst any overflow. Not able to afford a hazardous waste cleaning crew (and with the PWSA's insistence that the problem was not theirs), we have been solely responsible for several clean-ups as well as desperate and costly stop-gap measures. Aware that billions of tax payers dollars will be spent to repair/replace/revamp Pittsburgh's failing underground infrastructure, I would encourage the (continued) support of the community in working towards the expedition of corrective measures where the problems are most harrowing. So now it seems that the PWSA fully acknowledges the Bryant Street CSO issue. Upon my return home yesterday, I noticed that Bryant Street is now marked with spray paint (an indication of planned repair) as well as large capable-looking pipe sections. Well done! I trust that these repairs will provide the much anticipated relief to both residential and commercial occupants on Bryant Street. Thank you again, Mr. Hance, Concilman Dowd, fellow Highland Park and surrounding area community members. I have lived in many corners of this city and have never quite experienced the neighborhood pride that I feel here. I would also like to thank, in advance, the PWSA for the anticipated remediation efforts in Highland Park and throughout the city. In the process, perhaps the public perception of the PWSA can be repaired as well. Many community residents have asked me to compile a list of electronic articles that highlight the need for accountability on the part of the PWSA as a utility provider. Hello Highland Park Neighbors, I am gearing up for another year of homeschool FIRST Lego League and recruiting new kids to be a part of our team. Last year we had a lot of fun. My son Holden is 10 years old and I coached this team last year with another parent. We are open to any homeschooling family that is interested in participating. I am not sure what the cost will be, because it depends upon the number of kids who join up, but there will be an initial cost of $300 that will be shared by the members of the team ($200 registration fee plus $100 for the mat and shipping costs), with a maximum of 10 kids. We meet at my house which is located in Highland Park from around 1 until 4pm and the meetings will be beginning the 3rd week in September.
