[Highland Park] Cat fatality in Morningside - all black fur (forgot to check sex)

I'm sorry to say I removed a gorgeous, all-black cat (young, I would guess less than 2 years old) wearing a flea collar from the 1200 block of Morningside Ave. this morning (9.3.2010). I was walking my dog and the cat must have been hit within the hour before we passed by. I couldn't just leave the cat in the street. My neighbors didn't know who the cat belonged to but many said the cat had been coming onto their porches, (the 1200 block of Morningside Ave.) He(?) had been spending the most time on one porch where the family was putting out food and water, and they are devastated but said it wasn't their cat. One of the neighbors, a landscaper, said he would bury the cat but would hold the body in case someone might want to claim it. I imagine he'll have to bury the cat this evening or tomorrow at the latest. I believe the cat had green/gold eyes, and feel pretty confident he was killed instantly and did not suffer. All in good condition, except one chair back has been glued in one spot. Upholstery in need of upgrade. Hi neighbors, I just wanted to add a plasterer to our list of workmen. David Law 412 638-1834 just completed major repairs to our walls and ceilings from winter ice/snow damage. He does a great job and is so pleasant to work with. He will do small as well as large jobs. Given the amount of work he had to do we thought he was also reasonably priced. Marsha Aarons
