I had such good luck with my previous postings for volunteers, I thought I'd try another one. Thanks, neighbors! I'm looking for someone to volunteer to help staff the front desk in my office which has been downsized due to budget constraints. You would mainly be interviewing students to assist them in finding a tutor. The perks: Lots of contact with people (a people person's dream job) Opportunity for a reference for future jobs A dynamic and friendly family atmosphere Flexible hours (although 10-2 would be ideal) Lots of food... we love to eat! The Girls Scouts will celebrate 100 years in 2012. Girl Scouting is a wonderful program for girls age 5 to 17. Daisies - Kindergarten Brownies - Grades 1- 3 Juniors - Grades 4 - 6 Cadets and Seniors - Grades 7 -12 Come join us Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 PM @ Eastminster Church, 250 North Highland Avenue across Penn Circle from Home Depot. Enter from the rear of the Church. There is parking in Eastminster’s lot across the street from the rear of the Church. The Girls Scouts of America registration fee is $12. [Highland Park] Piano Teacher Needed

My daughter, aged 7, has been taking piano lessons for about 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, her teacher has decided to stop teaching. Does anyone know of someone who's good at teaching piano to younger kids? My wife and I both work full time, so the lessons would have to be after 5:30pm during the week someplace in the East End, or, ideally, at our house. I believe there may have been messages in the past from qualified teachers, but I don't have any of those saved. Thanks. Rob Schwartz

Hello Neighbors, Several families on Devictor Place are emptying our basements and closets to have a huge yard sale this weekend on Saturday from 9 to 3. Just wander down either end of Devictor and find some great treasures. For those new to the neighborhood, Devictor is one block long, between Hampton and Bryant Streets, in the 1100 block, one block down from Heberton and three blocks up the hill from Highland. Among the treasures we are selling are: tools, antiques, retro furniture, men's and women's clothing, wheelbarrow, large pet cage, Christmas ornaments and decorations, household goods, and lots more. [Highland Park] Sing Out, People and Pets!

For quite a number of years St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in the Highland Park neighborhood and St. Andrew Lutheran Church in the Oakland have joined together to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis with a special service including a blessing of our pets--with clergy and lay leadership from both congregations. We alternate locations, and this year we're gathering at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Center and Morewood, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 2.
