There is a post on FB of a small dog found yesterday in Highland Park. The dog is at the Humane Animal Rescue Pittsburgh. If you are missing a small dog looks mostly black and white, longer hair, give the shelter a call.

Vehicle Charity Donation Needed for Local Pittsburgh Animal Rescue!

Hello! Furkid Rescue (Furkid Rescue - dog and cat adoptions in Western Pennsylvania <https://www.furkidrescue.org/>) is a Pittsburgh based animal rescue who has spent the last 14 years taking 2000+ dogs and cats from the streets to happy homes. I am a proud supporter and volunteer for this wonderful organization. Their positive impact on the community and rescue network is significant and so many adopters (including myself!) have them to thank for their tireless work to ensure the welfare of at-risk animals. At any one time they are caring for and trying to find homes for 20+ animals which requires a 24/7 operation including medical care, foster network generation and adoption activities. The rescue’s well worn vehicle is now 20 years old, has 260k miles on it and requires extensive repairs to operate safely. Given that the rescue organization is 100% foster based, access to a reliable vehicle is essential in bringing animals to their foster and adopter homes for visits as well as to community adoption events. In addition, the rescue organization drives long distances to save at-risk animals from euthanasia and ensures they have the best chance for a better life in a loving home. At this point the rescue organization is unable to use the vehicle for non-Pittsburgh transports at all which restricts the rescue organization’s ability to serve animals, their medical needs and their adoption network. They have a large number of animals to find a home for right now (31 dogs and cats) so the number of local and long distance transports needed is quite high. *Do you or anyone you know have a used vehicle, preferably a cargo van (i.e., Sprinter, Ford Transit, Chrysler Ram ProMaster), that can be donated to the rescue organization?* They would be thrilled to take a heavily used vehicle even if it needs minor repairs. A large-sized SUV (i.e., Chevy Suburban, Lincoln Navigator, GMC Yukon) may be another option. I am also reaching out to businesses with cargo van fleets donation programs - if you are connected to a business that is willing to donate a vehicle we would be happy to talk with them as well. As the rescue is a 501(c), the donation would be tax deductible! Thank you for your consideration - Furkid Rescue appreciates your support!
