[Highland Park] hOOp for Haiti! This Tuesday!

Steel City Hoop Union invites you to come to our 2nd (annual??!) "hOOp for Haiti" at the Union Project this Tuesday, February 1st, from 6:30-8:30 pm!! Haiti has just marked the one-year anniversary of the powerful earthquake that killed 250,000 people and devastated much of the country. As they continue to struggle to rebuild, we are asking that you join us in raising money for this beautiful nation. This year's proceeds will go to FilterPure Filters (http://www.filterpurefilters.org/) an organization which creates simple, effective, and sustainable water filters-- water filters which provide clean water and can resolve the cholera outbreak. All levels, ages, and sizes are hoopin-heartily welcome to partake in this Haitian celebration! We will be hooping to some Haitian grooves! Gwen Tucker will lead us in some Zumba fun, and we may have live musical guests! There will also be a silent auction, and John Zolko of FilterPure Filters will speak about the organization as well as demonstrate how the filter process works. Together we will also enjoy some Haitian refreshments!! [Highland Park] 1 or 2 cherry jewelry armoires, flat drawers great for an artist too

I have 2 lovely jewelry armoires that I've been using simply to store stationery. I no longer need them. They are each app. 23" wide x 15-1/2" deep x 27-1/2" tall. The insides of the drawers, which have a velvety like lining, are app. 19" x 11-1/4" x 1-1/2" deep. They are a lacquered deep cherry finish and may be actual cherry wood (they are quite heavy for relatively small pieces), very well made. Generally wonderful condition - the only imperfections I can see are a short hairline scratch on top of one, and on the other, a small area on top that is like some kind of tape residue - you can see this in the photo - it was there when I bought them secondhand here in Highland Park many years ago, and I've always had the tops covered so I never thought about it again until now - since I don't know anything about furniture finishes I don't want to try to clean it now). I am willing to sell only 1 or both. I am asking $100 each. The flat drawers would be great for an artist too for storing medium- size sheets of good paper or drawings. jai 412-362-7607

*Atticus is a 13 month old English Mastiff* male. He is waiting to be adopted from the Animal Rescue League. I can tell you from experience that this breed is wonderful. Gentle, loving, loyal, great with kids and generally very mellow. The sleep as much as most cats and don't need a ton of exercise.
