Hi, all! I am the Community Resources and Outreach Manager at the Pittsburgh Public Market. We are celebrating our one-year anniversary over the September 2nd-4th weekend, and would love to have some volunteers on-hand to help out with our information booth and other tasks (I promise: no heavy lifting or forced manual labor!). If you're not familiar with us, the Market is a 501c(3) (a not-for-profit organization) governed by a volunteer Market Council. We are a year-round public market hall located in the heart of the Strip District, Pittsburgh’s historic market district. We offer a variety of locally-grown and -produced goods to support local business, industry and agriculture. Our mission is: 1. To preserve the historic character of the neighborhood; 2. Hi neighbors,We just moved into a house on Portland St. in May and I'm curious if any of your children attend the Frick Park Environmental Charter school? Our son starts K in a year and we are at the beginning of the "waiting list" process. I'm curious about where other HP kids attend and if you're happy with you experiences. Also, we'd like to sign him up for fall t-ball and soccer...any suggestions for good club programs or city leagues? We want to know where the neighborhood kids play! Thanks so much, we love it here! Crews will be delivering, preparing and installing 21 precast 87-foot long I-beams needed to create two ramps at the new interchange of Route 28 and the 31st Street Bridge. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Restrictions will be coordinated to minimize impacts on traffic when possible. No restrictions are expected on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Motorists should be prepared for possible delays on Route 28 and allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work is included in a $22 million project to prepare Route 28 (Allegheny Valley Expressway) and relocate railroad tracks for the upcoming East Ohio Street widening project. The prime contractor for the project is the Brayman Construction Corporation of Saxonburg, Butler County. This project includes upgrading drainage, signals, utility and railroad track relocation, bridge pier reconstruction at the 31st Street Bridge, wall and bridge construction and other miscellaneous construction adjacent to Route 28 from Chestnut Street in the City of Pittsburgh to the 40th Street Bridge in the Borough of Millvale. The project also includes constructing new ramps at the 31st Street Bridge and relocating a bridge pier. The project will be completed in late spring 2012.
