I am very sorry that I forgot the address. It will be at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton St.; Hampton St. is one and half blocks off of Highland Ave in Highland Park. Admission is free. The Fair will be Friday, Dec. 2 from 5pm to 7pm. and Saturday Dec. 3 from 9am to 6pm. There are several tables still available. The fee to participate is $25.00. We will supply the table, chair, coffee, tea, and donuts to participants. Participants must donate one or more items for Chinese Auction. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Homeless Children's Education Fund and Animal Friends. We will have live music, Holiday decorations, hot cider for customer and much more. Dear Neighbors, I am the leader of the Highland Park Girl Scout Troop. We meet at St. Andrew's on alternating Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:30 pm . This year, we are working towards earning the Bronze Award. Part of earning the award is learning about character development, setting and achieving goals. We are very interested in finding a few good women willing to come in and talk with the girls about their careers, what it took to get there, and how you decided on that profession. It doesn't matter if you've taken the circuitous route to get where you are. Are you in the sciences? Do you love what you do? Do you have your own business? [Highland Park] new middle school option and 10/5 open house at Waldorf School

Now that everyone has settled into their back-to-school routines, I know that many families with 5th grade students are already starting to think about school plans for next year. So, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows about a new middle school in the area that they might want to consider. The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh, which is located in neighboring Friendship and which had formerly gone K through 5 (with a daycare option for little ones), is adding a middle school! This year (2011-12) they have added a sixth grade, next year they will be adding a seventh, and by 2013-14 they will offer a full K-8 program. For those of us lucky enough to live in Highland Park (or anywhere in the city and some suburbs for that matter), school bussing is available and convenient. If you are interested in more info, you can check out their website at: http://waldorfpittsburgh.org/ Even better, you can attend the "Discover Waldorf Open House" they are holding on Wednesday, October 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Also, I would be happy to talk with you personally about my experiences as a Waldorf parent, and answer any questions you may have about the school. My son is currently in the 5th grade, having attended since nursery school, and we have been overwhelmingly pleased with the school and the education he is receiving. The DEA has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm to provide a venue for persons who want to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. State and local law enforcement agencies will set up collection sites at local police and fire stations where people can drop off unwanted and unused prescription drugs.
