hello! does anyone have a contact at St. Andrews? i'd like to circulate our neighborhood online petition to silence the HP firing range <https://chng.it/XqtwFSbnBr> among the congregation and clergy/staff. we're at 1,120 signatures. trying to reach 1,500 this weekend. the mayor and all city managers know about the petition and, for the first time in 40 years, are listening to us when we say that *the range is a public health issue*. AND: we learned this week that the range was put up *with no building permits and no occupancy permits, no hearing, no oversight.* we also filed an environmental violation with EPA re 40 years of firearms waste affecting the soil and groundwater. our watershed is one of the main sources of drinking water in pittsburgh. joy

South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace - Zone 3 Fund one part-time staff member of the South Pittsburgh Peacemakers violence intervention team. Their team has been trained by the Pittsburgh Police and unofficially collaborates with the GVI team. Continue their series of Suicide Awareness workshops and provide at least two Compassion Fatigue self-care in-person workshops. Coordinated by Reverend Eileen Smith. The Brashear Association - Zone 3 Host two six-week parent/family leadership training cohorts focusing on recognizing warning signs, preventing violence, advocating for their children in order to access educational, social and economic supports, and developing a strong support network around their family. Coordinated by Andrea Matthews. The Kingsley Association - Zone 5 Work with local coaches, teams, community involved mentors to provide post-season training sessions and health and wellness supports for 75-100 youth, improve digital literacy, awareness of professional opportunities in tech, and engage in problem solving via technology, provide arts awareness experiences and host a cultural community event at the Kingsley Center in Larimer. Kingsley’s partner organizations are Larimer Consensus Group, Habitat for Humanity, Phase 4, Reach, and Urban Strategies (which provides social services at the Cornerstone development). Trade Institute of Pittsburgh - City-wideAdding a community engagement coordinator to add lifeskills and mentoring components to their existing adult job training programming for all ages, coordinate outreach, partnerships and alumni relations and assure consistent support for the students while they are attending classes and after graduation from their 11-week course. Coordinated by Kenya Alford and Donta Green (Executive Director). Voices Against Violence - Zone 3 Implement an emotional well-being program by Imagine Further Collective for all of the youth participating in their after-school program, including work on peaceful conflict resolution. Coordinated by Richard Carrington. Western Pennsylvania Youth Athletic Association – City-wide WPYAA coordinates youth sports programming and is acting as an umbrella organization for funding individual teams. Each team will have its own allocation of funds from the total amount. Each team can spend a portion of their funds on athletic needs including security, coaching, equipment, travel and supplies. The remaining funds will be spent on participant, family and coach supporting activities, such as academic assistance, family strengthening activities, mental health care, and lifeskills development. WPYAA is coordinated by Tonya Payne-Scott. Za'kiyah House - Zone 5 Begin the process of healing for clients by providing a cohort of 10 program participants with workshops and other support options, plus budgeting techniques, how to get to resources, overdose prevention, spiritual awareness, mental health wellness, and finally telling their trauma through story telling. Caring Connections for YOUth works with 211, so if a kid or a family in Allegheny County needs help for things like a conflict between a parent and child, truancy, fighting or even minor drug possession, all they have to do is call 211, press 3 and be connected with an operator instead of the cops. The program was developed based on data collected by Gwen's Girls. They looked at the numbers of juveniles who are arrested, cited or referred to juvenile court for minor offenses. They found that not knowing who to call for resources and support was one reason young people ended up in the system, when really they needed help. The workers have been very consistent and visible to these young men day in and day out as they come and go from school and local neighborhoods where our team frequents. The mediation involved over 9 young men and has been a success because there have been two weeks of no confrontations and no ongoing agitation over social media or in school spaces. - Meet with one of the high risk individuals' dad to try to figure out how me and him can prevent the beef with another high risk individual from going any further. We’re looking for an after school babysitter for about a month from mid-May to mid-June, Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 3:20 - 5:00 PM in Highland Park. Our amazing college senior babysitter is graduating, so we need someone to take over for her until the end of the school year. Our kids go to the same school, but with a staggered dismissal time, so you’d pick up the 4 year old from pre-k by 3:25, then wait until the 7 year old gets dismissed from 1st grade at 3:50. You’d bring them home (10-15 minute walk or 3 minute drive - we have car seats), get snack, do homework and play until 5:00 PM. I work from home, so I just walk downstairs at 5:00 and take over. Pay is $15-$20/hour based on experience. We have a very friendly dog too.
