New guidelines for community gardens & street paving update

>From the City Office of Community Affairs: There are new guidelines for community gardens. Community gardens and Adopt-A-Lot sites are open, but the first priority is to keep each other safe at all times. To ensure that community members stay healthy while using public gardening spaces, the following guidelines <https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpittsburg…> have been established: - When in doubt, stay home. Do not come to the garden if you or someone in your home is sick, if you are a member of a vulnerable population, or are a senior. - Do not hold group volunteer days, no matter how small. - Visit the garden alone or with members of your immediate household. - If several people are at the garden, come back later. Limit the garden to 1-3 people at a time. - For collective duties, make an online task list. Work done individually can still be shared by the community. - Post signage with these guidelines and rules in public. While at the garden, it is important to: - Maintain social distancing by staying at least an arm and shovel length away from others. - Wear a mask or cover your mouth and nose with a cloth. - Be aware of high-touch surfaces and disinfect handles, water spigots, shed doors, etc. Avoid using community tools and bring your own. - Remove all personal items and trash you bring to the garden. - Thoroughly wash all produce you harvest from the garden. - Avoid touching your face. - Wash your hands regularly. 2020 paving has begun. This year the City is investing nearly $15.7 million in the street resurfacing program, which supports asphalt street resurfacing, ADA curb ramp upgrades on paved streets, and repair of concrete, brick and block stone streets throughout the Pittsburgh. Roughly 27 miles of streets will be resurfaced this year. Additional mileage will be resurfaced through cooperation agreements with local public utilities. Mechanical patching will improve many miles more by addressing particular trouble spots on otherwise acceptable street corridors. Paving and other outdoor work has been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic but the City announced last week <https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpittsburg…> that it was resuming such activity. As most residents are staying indoors and sheltering in place, the City is making an extra effort to notify residents to move their vehicles to enable street resurfacing to proceed. Hi Neighbors! Since there's no yard sale happening this year, figured I'd put this on the list-serve for anyone who was planning to do their baby-clothes shopping for the fall there! If interested, let me know and I'll send you our address for contact-less pick up. *Large bag of baby clothes for sale - $10 for the lot* All items are size 12 to 18 months. Not all items pictured. Mostly fall/winter items. Clothing has been worn but it is all in good condition from a smoke-free home with plenty of wear left in it. Many items such as the PJs and holiday items were only worn once for PJ or holiday days at Day Care. The clothes are from a baby boy but nothing says boy on it and only one or two things look specifically boy-gendered IMO. Bag includes: - Baby Gap one-piece snow suit (navy blue) - REI Down Puffy Jacket (bright blue) - Gymbroree fleece jacket (thinner fleece so it can be worn in the car seat) (labeled size 6-12 months but it's roomy). - Set of three Baby Gap LS Darth Vader Onesies - 3-6 other assorted onesies, LS & SS, mostly baby gap brand - two pairs of Christmas PJs - two pairs of cat & jack PJs, blue & grey stripes pattern & bug jar patterns - Halloween onesie with coordinating pants - Embroidered Christmas onesie - Janie & Jack collared one-piece outfit (short sleeved, long legs) Plus there's a few other random clothing items and two pairs of size 5 shoes in the bag (these are both pretty well worn but I tossed them in as freebies) Thanks, Martha -- Martha Riecks mriecks(a)gmail.com
