Dogs at reservoir

Does anyone know if dogs are now allowed on the reservoir walkway? Before the construction there were “No dogs” signs and I never saw dogs up there. Since reopening, the signs are still there, yet I see people walking their dogs almost every day. As a dog-lover, it doesn’t bother me; I am just curious. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone

Thank you, Monica, and everyone who responded. Since it seems like some people misunderstood my post, I just want to clarify that I personally do NOT walk my dog on the reservoir walkway, as I have always been aware of the “No Dogs” signs. I am also aware that those signs are STILL there and were NEVER taken down. Further, I am not advocating for the rule changing or staying the same; it doesn’t matter to me either way. My dog and I are happy to continue walking in other areas of the park, just as we always have. But because I like dogs, I also wouldn’t mind if the rule did change. My question was simply one asked out of curiosity, as I have observed a pretty drastic change in public behavior. Some of you said you have noticed it too, so I don’t think it’s just me. For the five+ years I walked regularly at the park before the construction, I probably saw only 1 or 2 dogs at the reservoir, total. Now, I see at least that many per week, sometimes per day. What does everyone think is the reason for this? An increase in park usage by people from other neighborhoods who are not aware of the rule or the signage? People who are aware but are weary of the restrictions placed on other aspects of their lives (in other words, another form of pandemic fatigue)? No need to respond, just food for thought. Thanks. Books for people in Allegheny County Jail

Hello neighbors, Allegheny County Jail has decided, reportedly for the sake of safety, to stop receiving book donations as of December 28th (you can read about it here: https://www.publicsource.org/allegheny-county-jail-book-restricted-inmate-m… ). Instead they will provide people held there with a tablet holding only about 200 books, and to which people will have access for 90 minutes/day. This is being fought by various organizations. But planning for the worst, we can help ease this troubled situation by donating books up until the deadline. If you would like to donate, but don’t have the means to travel to a donation location, please drop your donations off at our house and we will take them for you. I’ve attached a flyer with specifics on what they are looking for. We live at 5901 Hampton St, corner of Euclid and Highland. Please leave your donations on the back porch, which is more protected from the rain than the front. Thank you for helping others in our community!
