Neighbors! Hi. Just a reminder that the drive for Hello, Pittsburgh is continuing until January 15, 2021 at St. Andrew's. St. Andrew's has teamed up with the HPCC and Hello, Pittsburgh to collect some much needed supplies for local families. Please see the attached flyer for everything we are collecting. Auto break in

I was alerted this morning by my neighbor here near the farm house end of Jackson Street that my car’s trunk was open. It must have happened overnight or earlier this morning. Nothing appears to be missing at first glance but things were definitely rummaged through. I had about $30 in change in a compartment and the side door. My car is messy as a rule and I assume not tempting to a thief. Please make sure your car’s locked. Frank

This is a message from Allegheny Alerts. The Allegheny County Parks Department is offering its annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program this holiday season. Residents may drop off Christmas trees from Saturday, December 26, 2020, through Thursday, January 14, 2021, at all nine county parks from 8:00 am until dusk. All lights, decorations, tinsel and stands must be removed from trees prior to drop-off. Trees will be mulched and used in the county parks. Drop-off locations are: Boyce Park soccer fields parking lot; Deer Lakes Park Veterans Shelter parking lot; Harrison Hills Park parking lot at Chipmunk Drive & Cottontail Drive; Hartwood Acres Mansion parking lot; North Park Swimming Pool parking lot; Round Hill Park Alfalfa Shelter parking lot; Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool parking lot; South Park Wave Pool parking lot; and White Oak Park Chestnut Shelter parking lot. Car thefts/ break ins on Jancey street

Hi neighbors! I had I very concerning thing happen to me and I wanted to share to make sure all the neighbors can be on alert. The details are a little fuzzy but here’s what happened. Four zone 5 police officers visited me Sunday evening around 6:30pm to alert me that there have been a recent rash of break ins/car thefts by *white juveniles* in this neighborhood. This is really scary. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I had a friend visiting from butler and the officers came by to verify that she in fact owned her truck. Because there have been so many break ins/ car thefts by juveniles lately. And they were worried her truck was either stolen and abandoned on our street or broken into because her plates were from Butler. They mentioned her car doors were all open but we checked and they appeared closed but not locked. *nothing was stolen* It’s a little confusing. I’m still trying to make sense of it. A Good Samaritan must have seen my friend park and come into my house, which thank god they did. Because they were able to send the police to the right address and check that her car wasn’t broken into/stolen by juveniles. As I get more information I will update everyone. I’m going to try and obtain the police report tomorrow. Thank you to the vigilante neighbor who is looking out for us on Jancey Street. Stay safe and lock your car doors!
