Hello neighbors, your local community doc here! Updates on our Walk with a Doc chapter in Highland Park. Due to some helpful feedback that we received from the community, we won’t be doing our Thursday 8 am walks but will continue our walks on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 8:30 am If you aren’t familiar, Walk with a Doc is a national organization <https://walkwithadoc.org/who-we-are/our-story/> and we’ve had a chapter in HP since 2020. We start with a quick chat about a health topic and then take a 45 minute, walk at your own pace, free community walk around the reservoir. This year’s walks are sponsored by Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh <http://www.directcarepgh.com/>, Rebel Wellness <http://www.rebelwellnesspgh.com/>, and Drayer PT <https://drayer.urpt.com/locations/pittsburgh-fox-chapel/>. This year’s Highland Park Yard Sale will take place on *Sunday, June 8th, and sales will start at 9 am*. Like most years in the past, the yard sale will happen on the same day as the Bryant Street Festival, so please invite your friends and family! If you prefer to register by mail/in-person, please fill out the Registration Form from the May 2025 HPCC Mailer. Hello. I was looking for a few referrals. My husband and I are looking for recommendations for an estate attorney. For myself I have a single tailoring project. I have a dress with a hemline far to long for me but it's perfect for what I need for summer maternity wear this year and I'd love to find some to hem it to a more appropriate length. This morning I briefly parked on Sheridan while dropping my daughter off at school and during the few minutes that I was away from my car my window was smashed with a brick and my purse was taken. Vote Yes tomorrow to keep Pgh's water public

On tomorrow's ballot, Pittsburgh voters will be able to vote on three "Special Election Questions." *Question 2 *would change Pittsburgh's home rule charter to prevent water, sewer, and stormwater utilities that serve city residents from being privately owned. *The HPCC supports this initiative.* Under its current lease agreement with the city, Pittsburgh Water (PW) - a *public* utility - will be allowed to buy the city's water and stormwater systems for $1 this fall. Although PW officials have publicly committed not to privatize or sell the infrastructure, if this ballot measure doesn't pass, they would be allowed to do so in the future. The ballot initiative would prevent such a sale. It was passed unanimously by City Council, signed by the mayor, and has support from PW's board. The HPCC supports this initiative because when water systems are owned by the public, their main purpose is to serve the community by making sure water is clean, affordable, and accessible. When private companies take over water systems, their goal is to make a profit, which often leads to higher water bills, less public accountability, and fewer protections for the community. PW has a significant amount of infrastructure in Highland Park, and the City and the HPCC has been able to work with them to ensure that the interests of residents and park users are factored into decisions about installing and maintaining that infrastructure.
