Mother of All Pottery Sales <https://unionproject.org/event/save-the-date-mother-of-all-pottery-sales-20…> is Union Project's signature event and Pittsburgh's largest celebration of ceramics. If you've never joined us for this joyous event before, here's what you can expect: - Mingle, browse, and buy handmade functional ceramic artwork from the region’s top ceramic artists. We have 29 artists tabling in the Great Hall and Atrium. (Plus, more artists represented in our Spotlight Gallery.) - In partnership with ReMake Learning, our teaching artists will work with guests to create two pots out of clay coils – kids will work on one and grown-ups will work on the other. We’ll use our creativity, strength, and engineering skills in this gravity-defying contest. Which pot will be victorious? - Live wheel-throwing demonstrations all day long! - We’ll fire up the Raku Kiln and demonstrate how this technique produces some of the most vibrant and dramatic pots. - Several food and drink options from local purveyors outside on Negley Avenue throughout the day. All markets sell farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese, and baked goods, while several locations also sell flowers, small gifts, and hot prepared foods to go. Buy Fresh, Buy Local! “CitiParks is excited to make a greater investment into the City’s Farmers Markets to influence the growth of small, local, and sustainably focused businesses,” said Kathryn Vargas, CitiParks Director. “We would also like to thank the Bloomfield Development Corporation for their support in working with us to re-envision the City’s Farmers Markets for 2023.” The Squirrel Hill Market opens one week early, with a special market on Sunday, May 14th to celebrate Mother’s Day. This special day at our Squirrel Hill Market will include a photo booth and a Mother’s Day Card crafting table for kids. Normal market operations begin Sunday, May 21, and will run through November 20, 2023. Hello neighbors! I'm sure many of us have been through so many changes in our bodies over time, and it doesn't help that diet culture pushes for constantly fitting a certain body type and shape. We also see a significant amount of anti-fat bias and weight stigma in healthcare. I've put together an amazing panel of leaders in our community around body positivity and an anti-diet culture approach, and we are hosting the panel tomorrow night at Rebel Wellness.
