How does one go about getting furniture appraised or even if your furniture is valuable? I have some Jacobean style pieces that I need to sell but not sure how much ,if any, they are worth. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

USPS Blues

I just got home from being away 2 weeks. I had a USPS Mail Hold stating I would pick up accumulated mail. I gave a form to my carrier, dropped one at the 15206 post office and mailed one in. This overkill is from NUMEROUS problems I’ve experienced over the last few years with mail holds. Thank God for my neighbor who has been invaluable! A few years ago while in Italy, she told me they kept delivering my mail and packages, despite my online mail hold. The manager at 15206 told me when I called from Italy that I should not use the online forms because “we don’t necessarily see them.” Then while in Ireland in 2019, a similar thing occurred. When I got home I filed a complaint….again useless! Last summer while in Cape Cod, they did hold my mail but did not deliver the accumulated mail when I got home as I had requested. I waited three days once I was back and had to ask them to find it. Last night I returned from Cape Cod and even though I said on the yellow paper form I would pick it up tomorrow, my neighbor called and told me she picked up accumulated packages left on my porch with yesterday’s delivery. Our carrier is a very nice young man and I’m happy he’s stayed with the route. In case you’re not aware, Jackson Street is among the most unpopular routes. I am beginning to wonder if they are pranking me because I have filed complaints. Has anyone had similar problem or am I being punished for my complaints? I have supported the USPS over the years, and was totally against trump’s talk of privatizing the mail. I’ve paid 1/2 my bills thru USPS trying to support them. Now I am not so sure. I did exactly what “management” suggested and still the simple service of holding my mail and letting me pick it up seems to be too complicated for the 15206 USPO to carry out. Summer Porch Concerts - Musicians Needed!

Hello Musicians! Last year the HPCC coordinated free porch concerts each Sunday night from 7-8 pm, June through September. The concert series was a huge success because of the generous and talented group of musicians who shared their talents with us. We are pleased to announce that we'll be coordinating the concerts again this year. If you're a musician who would like to participate, here's how it works: - I email all musicians on my list at the beginning of the week starting the first week of June (first concerts will be on June 6) - If you want to perform that Sunday evening from 7-8 pm, you email me by Friday close of business - I post the list of confirmed performers and a map with concert locations on Saturday or Sunday in the Highland Park listserv and the HPCC's website and Facebook page - You share your music and spread some joy on Sunday night! To get on the weekly email list, please email me with your name, band's name if applicable, anticipated concert address, and a description of your music. If you want to change genres or locations at any point, just provide an update that week. You do not need to commit to any specific dates at this time. This is a message from Allegheny Alerts. The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced that the Boyce Park Wave Pool, North Park Swimming Pool, Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool, and South Park Wave Pool will open for the season on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. All pools will close the week of June 7 and then open, and remain open, starting Saturday, June 12, 2021. Daily hours of operation are 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., weather and conditions permitting. If a pool does not open by 2:00 p.m. due to inclement weather, it will remain closed for the remainder of the day. Concessions will also be open, offering drinks and pre-packaged snacks. The Highland Park pool will be open this summer if the City can hire enough life guards. The City is seeking life guards and staff for other summer work. If it can attract more lifeguards, it can work towards opening more pools throughout the summer. The Department of Parks and Recreation needs approximately 80 guards to staff eight pools. Lifeguards must be City of Pittsburgh residents, at least 16 years old by June 30, 2021, and willing to work in any part of the City. With pools and other outdoor activities coming online this summer after closures in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been challenging for employers in the public and private sectors to find lifeguards and other staff — for instance, the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced this week <https://www.media.pa.gov/Pages/DCNR_details.aspx?newsid=747> that several pools at state parks throughout Pennsylvania may remain closed due to staffing issues. Medium Dog Crate for Sale - $40
