Important information for Independent Voters (and others interested in questions that will be on the Primary Ballot in May)

Hi, Neighbors, There are a number of Very Important ballot/referendum questions on the Primary election ballot on May 18: four statewide ballot issues and two local (Allegheny County and Pittsburgh). Independents can vote on these questions in the Primary even though they can’t vote for Democratic or Republican candidates then. Like other voters, Independents can vote either in-person or using mail-in ballots. Here are a couple of nonpartisan sources of information about the ballot/referendum questions: The following links are from Allegheny Votes, an e-newsletter sent out by Allegheny County Elections. The links go to “plain English” explanations of the ballot questions: "All voters, regardless of party, may vote in the primary on referendum questions. Dear Highland Park: In celebration of Earth Day 2021, we're hosting our annual neighborhood clean-up in a new location. Throughout the year, our park becomes littered with bottles, cans, plastic, paper, and other items. With some teamwork, a little love for our planet, and a bit of hard work, we can brighten up the park and pavilions and keep litter out of our waterways and sewers. I would like to find a Highland Park family in need of in-home nanny/childcare services 2-3 days a week from June 7th-August 15th. At this point, I have flexibility as to which days are available.
