*Published:* 02.08.2021 *Contact:* Timothy McNulty Communications Director Mayor's Office 412-660-1999 timothy.mcnulty(a)pittsburghpa.gov City Prepares for Snow Storm PITTSBURGH, PA (February 8, 2021) With significant snowfall predicted for Monday night through Saturday, the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works is preparing for road salt treatments and plowing citywide. Forecasts are for snow to fall from approximately 11 pm. Monday through Sunday afternoon, with a brief respite from snow expected on Thursday. DPW plans to have over 45 trucks on the 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift tonight, salting roads in advance of the storm. Tuesday daylight crews will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., when over 60 trucks will be available for salting and plowing. Additionally, crews will be out Tuesday morning, salting and shoveling City steps, sidewalks, and bridges. Crews are in place around the clock to perform salting and plowing until the storm has passed through the area. The City Snowplow Tracker App ( https://pittsburghpa.gov/weather/snow-plow-tracker) will be activated tonight at 11 p.m. and throughout the storm. Slippery road conditions should be expected on Tuesday morning, as crews work through treating their routes. Hello neighbors: A bedroom door and door frame in our house needs repair. The screws that once held the hinge to the doorframe have completely stripped themselves ... trying to tighten them with a drill only makes it worse. They have completely up-rooted themselves. I think the door frame needs to be partially rebuilt. We need to be extra careful about COVID in our home. We had a not-so-great experience with a previous contractor re: not wearing a mask... so I hesitate to have workers in our home with the numbers as they are. BUT if someone can recommend someone with both excellent wood-working / repair skills *AND excellent Covid spread-prevention skills*, I'd be open and grateful. -Becky
