One more concern re N. Euclid Neighborway

When I filled out the feedback survey form about the N. Euclid neighborway, I was disturbed by the type of questions asked and the way that N. Euclid was described as a “new bike route.” The questions indicated that N. Euclid was being viewed only as a way to travel to get somewhere else, not as a place where people live, a lovely part of a lovely and vibrant neighborhood. janet jai, MLA

House give aways

Hi neighbors - We have sold our house on Sheridan Avenue. Which means that everything we still have has to go. We have some furniture, rugs, kitchen things, jewelry, tools, ladders, and lots of miscellaneous stuff. We are giving it all away. You are welcome to come anytime this Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 5pm to our house (1339 Sheridan). Please wear a mask; we will practice social distancing while you browse. Instead of payment, we are taking donations at your discretion for a charter school that our daughter is starting in Arizona, targeting Native American students, mostly Navajo. If you would like to make any donations, Surya Zoba Studies is the non-profit organizing the school, which is called Glen Canyon Outdoor Academy. The school is teaching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Arts, and Math) in the outdoors. Pernicious Signs

Does anyone know what these marks signify? I am all for making the neighborhood safer and more accessible to everyone. The proliferation of bollards, signs, line stripping and big green painted swaths such those which have befallen Beechwood Boulevard bear Frick Park are distracting, ugly, overhanded and not really very helpful. Ok I noticed them so that works. It’s just too much and heavy handed. Cars are not guests :) but lawfully registered vehicles whose licensed drivers are entitled to use these publicly owned and maintained rights of way. Jeffrey DeNinno Stanton Avenue

Following weeks of planning by community partners, Bike Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the City has closed Reservoir Drive to all vehicles except those operated by the Public Safety Department and the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority. "After months of being forced inside by the pandemic, we know Pittsburgh residents are desperate to spend more time outdoors, safely and with ample space for social distancing," Mayor William Peduto said. "I want to thank all our partners for their patience in making this exciting project happen." The main entrance to the park from N. Highland Avenue will be used as a one-way circular drop off. ADA parking is available in the parking lot at the end of Farmhouse Drive. Barricades are staggered to allow for access by emergency and PWSA vehicles. Reservoir Drive closure clarifications

Hello Neighbors, We just wanted to take a minute to provide some clarification about how the Reservoir Drive closure came about and the HPCC's role in the process. - The HPCC did not originate this proposal, nor was it consulted about the initial decision making. The HPCC learned about the plan through the Post Gazette on Friday, May 15th where it was presented as a finalized decision. We promptly shared this information at our monthly HPCC meeting the following Thursday. - According to the city, the closure is part of a series of temporary measures being taken in response to Covid-19. Specifically, while the county was in red, the city received numerous complaints that the park was too crowded for people to enjoy safety. As a result, the planning process was very much accelerated as the City is attempting to quickly respond to the crisis. - Given that the proposal had been piloted two prior weekends in the park, had been reported in the newspaper, and announced at the HPCC meeting, we assumed people were aware of it. In hindsight we should have also announced it on the list serv, and not doing so was an oversight. - Up until this week, the HPCC had received almost exclusively positive feedback on the proposal. Many folks expressed their concern about overcrowding in the park and reported that they had been avoiding it because of fears about Covid-19 and the need for social distancing. - After making inquiries about the project with the city, we were invited into the process at the very end to discuss implementation. At this point, we raised issues about parking and access that the city’s implementation team worked hard to address in the final plan. At the park this morning there were dozens of people taking advantage of the extra space and enjoying their walks as they discussed the pros and cons of the closure.
