FOCUS/NRP - Angel Tag/Christmas Gifts

Hi there Neighbors - Every year, the Neighborhood Resilience Project in the Hill (formerly known as FOCUS Pittsburgh) — asks the local Orthodox Churches for help with Christmas gifts for the area children and seniors. Each Church has a Christmas tree decorated with angel tags featuring the names of the children and their gift ideas. Even with a few hundred tags that are distributed to these churches, there are always more people that need help. That’s where our group comes in to gather additional gifts. Last year, there were about 40 people that were unaccounted for and we made it happen. This year, the NRP is trying to gauge just how many people can be helped if we get the word out sooner. We would pull a name(s) out for you, and would take care of making sure that your gift would be put into an actual person’s hands for the Holidays. Children’s Angel Tag requests would be e-mailed to you in time to make a purchase, and then we in turn will pick these up from you, and deliver to NRP in time for the Holiday delivery. If you are interested, please e-mail us your contact information, and what you would be interested in donating to help those out in need, especially with this year’s isolation that some are feeling. If you would be willing to donate a $25 gift for children — ideas will be on a tag — or a $25 Target gift card for senior citizens. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Once again, we are working on our Monthly Collections of Donations for FOCUS/NRP, and are looking at picking up on 12 NOV 20, so please look for our e-mail this Friday regarding that Collection !!! Joe is looking for his special person that will love him forever and ever and give him a second chance that he desperately needs. Big Joe gives so much of his heart to everyone he meets but unfortunately he has been let down by humans in his past. He is about 2 years old and weighs about 80 lbs and sometimes forgets that he isn’t a lap dog. Joe is the sweetest boy with a wiggle that welcomes everyone that he meets and wet doggie kisses galore. He does well with dogs and people and has recently spent a few weeks in doggie boot camp to learn social distancing and how to control that wiggle of excitement when he meets new people. We are looking for a special home for Joe as he is heartworm positive. He will need a special family that can give him a quiet home while he goes through his heartworm treatment. We will pay for his treatment if you can give him love and a quiet home for 30 days post treatment. Drop off locations will be available at three Department of Public Works Divisions across the City of Pittsburgh. Drop offs will be accessible Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will run from November 4th through December 4th. Both the plastic film and the metal stands that make up election campaign signs are recyclable. Participants must sperate the materials before dropping off at one of the City’s Division locations Part of a community group interested in organizing a local pickup for signs?
