Hi there Neighbors - We have gotten only a few people expressing that they are donating this Thursday for the Food Pantry and Clothing Locker at NRP (FOCUS) this week, so am sending out this reminder. The Response to the Angel Tag/Senior Christmas Drive is going extremely well, and we wish to thanks to those that are participating in both !!! Please help us get items to those in need just 15 minutes from where you live here in our own City. There have been a couple of drives to get supplies to NRP (used to be FOCUS) during the last two months, but we did not wish to take away from the efforts directly helping those within our own neighborhood, so have handled setting up meals, etc, there. They have had limited access to the public coming in one by one, so the needs have been a little less, but with Quarantine opening up, they are again expanding their availability to those in need. We are again letting our neighborhood know that we will be driving the neighborhood picking up for the monthly NRP Collection this coming Thursday, 12 NOV 2020. We will be around the neighborhood at 9:00 AM that morning, so we are looking for non-perishable food to restock their pantry & Clothing. THIS IS A DIFFERENT DRIVE THEN THE ANGEL TAGS/CHRISTMAS PRESENT COLLECTION E-MAIL FROM A COUPLE OF DAY AGO !!! If you have questions on that, please again contact me regarding that directly !!! Please note the attachment with their Mission Statement and Impact Programs. Please donate, as these are all needed and we are running our monthly pick-up from the neighborhood for Supplies for FOCUS, now Neighborhood Resilience Project !!! Mike and Brigette Nadler, are coordinating the Highland Park pick up. If you are inclined to help, leave the supplies on your front porch, then we will pick up and get your donations to FOCUS, now Neighborhood Resilience Project (NRP). So we are doing this again this coming Thursday, 12 NOV 2020. We will be around starting at 9:00 AM, and need to get the donations there by noon. Thanksgiving Food Drive for Seniors

Looking forward to this Thanksgiving holiday - a time of particular need and loneliness for so many people, particularly during this pandemic - the HPCC is organizing a targeted food drive for those served by Vintage Senior Center to help them enjoy a traditional holiday dinner. We are asking for complete sets of Thanksgiving trimmings or Giant Eagle gift cards we can use to purchase trimmings. Donations of $25 would pay for trimmings for a household, but donations of any size would be appreciated! Vintage Senior Center Thanksgiving Trimmings Shopping List (a printable list is also attached) 2 cans of veggies 1 can cranberry sauce 1 can sweet potatoes 1 box stuffing mix 1 box instant potatoes, au gratin potatoes, or corn bread mix 1 jar gravy Either: (A) two 21-oz jars of canned fruit pie filling, OR (B) one 15 oz can pumpkin pie mix and one 12-oz can evaporated milk Boxed pie crust mix: 2 boxes for fruit fillings OR 1 box for pumpkin pie fillings Donations must be dropped off on the porch at 1315 N. Sheridan Ave. by 5 pm, Thursday, November 12. If possible, please put all items for a set of trimmings into a double-bagged brown paper grocery bag with handles. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Since the onset of Covid-19, neighbors have generously been providing donations of nonperishables and toiletries for those served by Vintage: the first week of November we brought over a dozen bags! Our neighborhood is now one of their biggest donors of food, and due in part to our support, they are expanding their food program. Previously they added donations to the package of frozen meals provided to each senior weekly. Now they are giving their clients the opportunity to go “shopping” at their food pantry so that they can choose the extra food and personal items that they want and need.* You're making a difference, neighbors! *Any food or donations collected in excess of what’s needed for Thanksgiving trimmings sets will be donated to Vintage for use in its new food pantry. Found: child's eyeglasses with case

We found an orange eyeglass case with two pairs of children's eyeglasses in them. One pair are Batman sunglasses, the others are blue framed glasses with a strap. Found by our driveway on King Avenue near Bryant St. Hope to find the owner! Kelly

Please join me for the 2020 Walk with a Doc Kilimanjaro challenge <https://walkwithadoc.org/challenge/>. From November 14-28, participants will virtually trek Kilimanjaro by engaging in physical activities of their choice (walk, swim, run, garden, etc). Participants will take to the streets, trails, safe spaces or in their homes and log activity on a virtual platform to show their progress. I’m partnering up with Walk Pittsburgh this year to get our city excited about staying active as we head into winter, and I know Highland Park is definitely one of the most active neighborhoods! city contact re: blue bins?

Just wondering if anyone happens to know contact information (preferably email but I'd take phone) for blue bin related feedback? I think it's great the city has distributed these bins but they're pretty small and I'd like to encourage the city to allow people to use supplemental bins or bags if needed. The paperwork that came with our bin said that they won't pick up anything that's not in the bin except for cardboard. Seems silly -- I have a bin that I've been using for the past two years, I'd like to use it if I have more than will fit in the new bin. I did a bunch of digging around online but haven't found any contact info. Thanks!
