We are a professional couple in our 30s, working as an engineer and an analyst. We are looking for our dream unit in the city we love. One of us works in New Kensington and the other in Robinson, so we need to stay central, in the East End or Squirrel Hill. Here's a summary of what we are looking for: - Move in 4/1 (but could be somewhat flexible for THE Perfect Place) - Max budget is $1800/mo - Ideally in Squirrel Hill or East End (incl Point Breeze, Highland Park, Morningside, etc.) with close access to highways/routes out of the city. Areas like Shadyside which are more central are less ideal for this reason. - 3 bedrooms, with dining room, extra storage space in basement, that kind of thing. Space. Could perhaps go with a 2 BR with extra storage areas like basement, loft space, etc. - No specific # of bathrooms requirements, but a tub is preferred to shower stalls - We have 1 cat - Some wall-to-wall carpeting could be OK but hard floors definitely preferred - Central air preferred - Laundry in unit preferred - Some outdoor space (porch/balcony) is a must. Hi there, I appreciate Jeff’s concern for our privacy but I think more information is needed on the subject. Both Chrome and Firefox removed Avast and AVG browser extensions and add-ons sometime in December 2019. It seems to me the “Safe Price” add-on, in both Avast and AVG is the one to be cautious of and it is an option that can be unchecked during installation. It can also be removed after installation in both programs. I’m not sure it could even be installed in Chrome or Firefox. I didn’t try since I disabled that option as soon as I saw it. I never “sign up” or register a free program. I can’t remember if AVG asks for a signup, probably because I always instinctively don’t sign up for anything. Finally, after no signup and no submission of an email address, do I care that an unknown, unnamed, user with no email address and no physical location or house address (that happens to be me, by the way, since I’m using AVG free on my Windows 7 PC) has their browsing history gathered and sold? No, not really. But of course, it’s just my personal opinion. I think it’s a good idea to be aware of what “browser extensions” and add-ons are, and keep them to a minimum and also avoid the obviously suspect ones like the ones listed here: https://lifehacker.com/uninstall-these-eight-browser-extensions-that-stole-… but even in those situations, “they” are tracking unknown users. They call it “your data” but in the worst case reality, and in my opinion, it is just the browsing habits of an unknown user. Why did I switch to AVG when Windows 7 (Microsoft Security Essentials) lost support. Simple – to save $50.xx a year and avoid the annoyances cause by more needy and expensive solutions. PWSA announced Friday that lead compliance testing for the second half of 2019 showed a lead level of 10 parts per billion (ppb), which is below the action level of 15 ppb set by the Environmental Protection Agency. The findings are the first to fully show the success of PWSA’s additions of orthophosphate into the water system starting in April 2019, as well as other lead-fighting initiatives by the agency’s Community Lead Response program. Through the program PWSA has replaced more than 6,000 lead lines, including 3,000 in 2019, and plans for replacing another 3,000 this year. Much of the replacement work is financed by $49 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), which Mayor William Peduto and Governor Tom Wolf announced in 2018. Other changes at PWSA have included a new cooperation agreement with the City ensuring the water system will remain publicly-owned; oversight by the state’s Public Utility Commission; and work by the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Panel on the authority, which forwarded its restructuring recommendations in 2017. “Pittsburgh’s greatest resource has long been its water, and PWSA has proven it is more committed than ever to preserving safe and clean water for generations of city residents to come,” Mayor Peduto said.
