Ice packs & Food Rescue

We have a dozen ice packs from a food shipment we get every other week. Anyone have a use for them? They are 6x6x1” recyclable plastic pouches, filled with a non-toxic, flushable gel. They are hard when frozen. We will likely have many more over time — we really like the service, Misfits Market, that keeps “ugly” organic produce out of landfill (http://misfitsmarket.refr.cc/jeremyblack) Another option is the awesome and local 412 Food Rescue Ugly CSA (https://412foodrescue.org/programs/ugly-csa/) The only reason we didn’t go with 412 is because the schedule doesn’t work well for our family. Parks Conservancy to present at Oct 17 HPCC meeting

Hello Neighbors! The Parks Conservancy will be the featured presenter at the HPCC's Community Meeting on Thursday October 17, at 7 pm at St. Andrew's church. They will be presenting information and answering questions about the proposed Parks Plan and ballot initiative. If passed, the ballot initiative would increase the millage rate to fund improved park safety, increased fair funding and access, and upgraded maintenance and facilities for all existing city parks. The Conservancy is conducting information sessions across the city to inform people about this important vote. My house is one of the stops on the National Solar Open House event being held this Saturday. It took five years of research, planning, prioritizing (and patience due to several false starts), but this summer on July 2nd, I flipped the switch and have been generating electricity ever since. I’m in the process of making charts and pulling together visuals that show how my little house in Morningside is collecting the sun and creating energy. I also have data on costs and what I expect to save on electricity over the next 20-25 years with this system. I’m a data nerd, and It’s been super fun generating the reports and projecting savings. Part of my long-term goal is to get my home as close to net-zero as possible, all while working with a fairly modest budget. If you’ve already gone solar or have taken other steps toward reducing your fossil footprint, I hope you’ll stop by, too, and share tips about what’s been working for you. For me, going solar became possible largely because of the organization Solar United Neighbors. I joined this group and got a bid 30% less than bids I’d received in the past. Working clean Electric stove $50

Clean, works perfectly perfect. We changed to gas finally (updates bring done). Bought a few years back at the scratch and dent, see pic for damaged area. I steam cleaned the entire exterior last week (prior to deciding to swap for gas) with a mini hand held steamer, so it’s quite clean. Good for a rental, or your own home. Danielle
