Free 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner

Free 10,000 BTU Amana Window Air Conditioner – Works well. It’s fairly old, not very pretty and is heavy ... but it has cooled my 3rd floor which is the whole size of the house to the point where at times I’ve put on a sweat shirt – no remote. The “no remote” reason is why I replaced it. The weight: I’d guess 50# or more. I hand carried it from my car and up to the 3rd floors more than 10 yrs. ago but that was when I was a lot stronger. I used a hand truck to get it down from the 3rd floor to the porch yesterday. Top of the list: I’d love it if you alone can just carry it or bring a friend to help you and I don’t have to help. Bottom of the list: However, hand truck is still here and I’ll help you get it to your car ... ... *if* no one in the “top of the list” category gets it. It’s on my porch but I’d rather you call for pickup than have random unscheduled visits. Thank you! Steve Karl 412-441-4349

painter needed

Hi all, I have seen folks recommend painters on here before, and I am combing through the archives for names, but thought I would also ask as it's a time-sensitive situation. We recently bought a new place, and we are trying to get all of the work done before moving in. However, we just learned this weekend our painter is pulling out. It's a large job (three floors, ceilings, trim, and walls) and we would love to get it done with in the month of August (I know, probably a pipe dream!). Do you know any great painting crews who might have recently had a job cancel or finish early? I would love to chat with them! ballot question petition: we need you!

Dear Highland Park Neighbors, As you may recall reading on the list serve, I stationed myself at Tazza d'Oro for much of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, collecting signatures for a petition to place a November ballot question that would allow the voters of Allegheny County to request a voting process review commission. That volunteer commission would study our current voting system (antiquated and inadequate machines) and alternatives. Although I had very positive reactions from the people who came by, there weren't as many as I hoped. The same has been true for the overall project, and so the effort has been extended to the very last minute--one more week. Pennsylvania is one of only five states that have no paper trail for verification of votes. Won't you consider adding your signature to those of thousands of county residents who are concerned about the security of our votes and the legitimacy of our elections? The petition will be on the table on my front porch at 6487 Stanton Avenue (between Dillworth School and the tennis courts) until 9:00 p.m. every day until Sunday, August 6. All this petition does is get the question on the ballot. There's plenty of parking as there are no houses across the street, just park property.
