Hello Neighbors and Friends, This is my tenth year announcing the start of GIrl Scout Cookie sale season! Girl Scout Cookie time is about to start! Individual door-to-door sales start this Friday, January 6. Cookies are selling for $4 per box. Gluten free Toffee-Tastics and the new S'more cookie are selling for $5 per box. The funds raised help support individual Troops, Girl Scout Camps, and the Girl Scout Council office. Samoas, Thin Mints, (Vegan) Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, and Savannah Smiles return for the 2017 season. Think about how wonderful it will be to crack open a nice box of Trefoils with your tea or Thin Mints with your cocoa! There are multiple Troops selling in the Highland Park area, so you may be approached more than once by a chilly eager Girl Scout earning money for a Troop trip, event, or supplies. Cookies will be delivered to the Troops and then to you the week of February 26th. Hello neighbors! I am part of a group of people helping to coordinate a volunteer fair - Help or High Water - being held next Thursday, January 12 from 5pm-11pm at Spirit in Lawrenceville. We currently have 35+ local organizations that will be there recruiting volunteers, more than 30 awesome raffle prizes for you to win (money earned from raffle ticket sales go directly to the nonprofits present), and some great entertainment planned. Greetings and Happy New Year, The first Zone 5 Public Safety Council Meeting for 2017 is *Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m.* The meeting will be held at the Union Project, at the corners of Negley and Stanton Avenues. Acting Police Chief Scott Schubert will be on hand to share his vision for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police & the City of Pittsburgh as well as discuss the importance of Community-Police relations and what's happening in Pittsburgh.
