Hi everyone that inquired about giving LeVar the pretty betta a new home! Thank you so much for writing to me. I have someone (the first person who wrote) coming to meet him tomorrow and if that doesn't go well then I will reach out again. I really appreciate your interest in giving him a good home. I promise that I will pick a good new home and if this guy tomorrow isn't it, then I'll email you again! and p.s. I am feeling sad about it and honestly reconsidering the whole thing. he has been acting extra cute (if a fish can do that) lately and i swear he knows. i think he might want me to just stick it out and keep him. i'll keep you posted. Scholarship Luncheon and Silent Auction

Dear Neighbors The following message was sent by the chairperson of Japanese Nationality classroom in the Cathedral of Learning. The Auction includes a lot of beautiful kimono, Japanese pottery, and more. Tomoko The Japanese Nationality Room is holding its " Scholarship Luncheon and Silent Auction" on Saturday, October 15, at William Pitt Union Ballroom. We invite you to join us for the Scholarship Luncheon starting at 12:00. You will have the opportunity to hear previous scholarship winners share the experiences and how the JNR scholarship benefited them. You can also preview the Silent Auction items and listen to some live music. If you only wish to join us for the Silent Auction, please arrive starting at 1:30pm. We have some beautiful Japanese traditional items as well as everyday use chinaware, Japanese books and a range of additional items. You can see the photos of these items by clicking the Flickr link in the attached application form. Enjoy! Craig St. to Beeler St., including proposed bike lanes. The bike lanes will link up to the lanes east of Margaret Morrison St., and possibly, to future bike lanes westward through Central Oakland and on to Downtown. Please show up on Wednesday to have your voice heard. Safety on Forbes Ave. came to the forefront last fall with the death of Susan Hicks, who was riding her bike home from the University of Pittsburgh, where she worked. Demonstrating the need for safe, connected bike infrastructure throughout Oakland is critical. PennDOT officials will present the two-part project, which will include pedestrian-crossing enhancements at Forbes Ave. intersections, and the repaving of Forbes between the Birmingham Bridge and Beeler St., including new lane configurations. The safety improvement projects are scheduled to take place beginning fall 2017 through summer 2018.
