(Highland Park) Pittsburgh Police Firing Range Notice for Wednesday & Thursday This Week

The Pittsburgh Police will conduct new recruit low-light training on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Training will be held until 9:00 p.m. on both days. They will also need to go late in the day over the next 2 weeks to put the rest of the recruit class through their training. They apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Creative Conversation - open dialogue about the issues you care

Hi everyone! Union Project is having our monthly Creative Conversation Series *this Thursday at 6:30pm!* It is a free event and a safe space for everyone to share their thoughts about issues that we face together. The Creative Conversation is facilitated by community leaders Aerion Abney and Jay Oriola, guiding participants in important conversations around agape love, finding and defining community, and inclusion. Through the series, we hope to grow people’s capacity to address issues of inequity in our community. Each conversation will be shaped by those participating in this open format. We will share our unique perspectives, hopes, and concerns – and then help challenge one another to take action in our lives to create positive change. Attached you will find your Community Crime Update for the week of August 15th - 21st. Our officers made a number of exceptional arrests this week, taking several illegal firearms off of the streets. Those can be found under the "Notable Arrests" section of the report. For those of you who live in Bloomfield, you may have noticed a heavy police presence on Pearl Street near Penn Avenue on Sunday. Zone 4 officers responded to a violent domestic situation and subsequently tracked the suspect to his home on Carroll Street in Zone 5. The home was surrounded but the suspect refused to come out. Pittsburgh SWAT and our Tactical Negotiations Team were requested. After several hours, we were able to get the suspect to surrender without any serious injury to the individual or our officers. Last but not least... Zone 5 was invited to participate in several community events this week, to include the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Fair, the Rapha Ministries Back-to-School event, as well as today's back-to-school event at Lincoln Elementary. Comes with a palette of six artist-quality watercolors and a brush. Most importantly, this book also comes with the artwork, technique tips and encouragement of renowned illustrator Thacher Hurd." Attempted car break-in

Hi neighbors: another head’s up about keeping your car safe. Last night at about 12:50, the alarm on my car went off. The car was parked in the driveway here in Wellesley Road and, fortunately, was locked so entry was prevented. We saw someone run down the drive, turn right on Wellesley Road and then right onto Wellesley Ave in the direction of Winterton. I hope no one had their car broken into but this speaks to the need to be careful, even up here in the relative isolation of Wellesley Road.
