Zone 5 CRIME ALERT - SHOOTING - EAST LIBERTY

From: "Lando, Jason" Date: April 14, 2016 at 1:09:18 PM EDT To: undisclosed-recipients:; Subject: ** CRIME ALERT - SHOOTING - EAST LIBERTY ** On 4/13/2016, shortly before 6:00pm, Zone 5 Officers were dispatched to the East Liberty area for shots fired. Officers found one male inside of the Stanton-Negley Drug store with a gunshot wound to the left wrist. The victim is a 25 year-old male and he was conscious, alert, and in stable condition. Officers rendered first aid until EMS arrived to transport the victim to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Officers located a crime scene at Mellon Street and Hays Street. Additionally, witnesses stated that they saw a white/cream colored car shoot into the windows of the victim's vehicle. They described the suspect as a 5'10" black male with a white t-shirt and a small silver gun. Our GVI (Group Violence Intervention) team is working the case. At this time it does NOT appear to be a random shooting. I will provide further updates if/when they become available.
