PWSA Recommended Tips to Best Report Emergencies for the Quickest Resolutions of Issues Pittsburgh, PA - If you have a water or sewer emergency at your home, or you witness one on the roads of Pittsburgh, please contact the Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority (PWSA) Emergency Dispatch Center at 412-255-2423 as quickly as possible. According to PWSA Executive Director Jim Good, "It's important to provide as much detailed information as possible so we can dispatch the right people to the right place to rectify the situation." Good recommends the following tips when reporting an emergency: * Provide a specific location. While an exact address is best, the next best would be the nearest cross streets or a well-known landmark that is close to the emergency. * Avoid the urge to "diagnose" the problem by calling in saying, "There's a water main break at ABC location." While you may see water flowing onto a road, it could be a water main break, or it could be a number of other causes. * Describe what you see in as much detail as possible. For example, "I am at the corner of Baum and Bigelow Boulevards and see water flowing down the street toward Fifth Avenue on the left side of the street. There are about two inches of water right now where I'm standing." Please contact the PWSA Emergency Dispatch Center to report any water or sewer emergencies, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling 412-255-2423.
