We are looking for someone (with insurance) to do a small kitchen remodel for an apartment unit. It would only involve taking out the existing cabinets and putting in the new. Nothing else major. We would really like to have this done as soon and as efficiently as possible. I have called a lot of people that have previously been mentioned on the list serve but they are all backed up for months...any suggestions would be so appreciated! thanks, Susie

Hey all you gardeners - or like me - wish they were real gardeners! If you haven't already discovered a little gem of a garden center by the Goodwill Store in Lawrenceville, I suggest that you take a look.Cavacini Landscaping and Garden Center - 100 50th St 15201 - is owned by a terrific young woman. They have a nice selection, but not overwhelming, and from what I could tell, good pricing. Perennials are $2 off, annuals are BOGO and they have friendly, personal customer service.

FW: Zone 5 Crime Alert - July 13th

Greetings Zone 5 Neighbors, Some of you may have been made aware of a few incidents that occurred last night in the East Liberty and Highland Park areas of Zone 5. We had three incidents occur within minutes and I want to make sure you are aware that ALL of those involved were quickly arrested thanks to the quick response and exceptional teamwork of the officers who answered the calls last night. I usually wait until Monday to release the below information, but due to the nature of the incidents, I wanted to get the information to you in a more timely manner. (This will also be included in next Monday's weekly crime update. ) Thanks, and stay safe! Jason The incidents are as follows: 7/13/15 Robbery – N. Negley Ave & Broad Street, 11:00pm. Zone 5 Officers Auvil and Schwartzmiller were flagged-down by a 25 year-old male victim who stated that he had just been robbed by three unknown males. The victim pointed to two males who were walking away from them on N. Negley Avenue and stated that the third male was the one who stole his phone and fled. The officers caught-up to the two suspects on N. Negley and detained them without incident. Multiple Zone 5 units flooded the area to search for the third male and located him a short distance away. The third male still had the victim’s phone. He was identified as a 16 year-old male from East Liberty. This juvenile was arrested and charged with robbery. (129268) 7/13/15 Robbery – Rural Street & N. Euclid Avenue, 11:00pm. Zone 5 Officers Palchak, Solosky, Swimkosky, Lippert, and Sapp responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1100 block of N. Euclid Ave. The 25 year-old female victim reported that she was walking home from a dinner party when (2) unknown suspects came up to her and pushed her to the ground at gunpoint, then stole her iPhone. Officers worked quickly to track the phone’s location and found it was in the area of N. Negley Ave & Rural Street. Officers located the two suspects, one of whom still had the victim’s phone. The victim came to the scene and made a positive ID of both suspects. Javon Jordan, 18, of Larimer, and Antonio Maxon, 17, of East Liberty, were both arrested and charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, assault, and resisting arrest. It should be noted that Maxon is being charged as an adult due to the violent nature of the crime. It should also be noted that officers were able to recover the weapon that was used and it was found to be a paintball gun. (129227) 7/13/15 Zone 5 Officers Antonace and White were patrolling Highland Park, checking the area for the above armed robbery suspect s , when they came across a male in the area of Jackson Street & Casanova Way that matched the description of one of the robbers. The officers stopped Joseph Blockton, 21, of Highland Park, and observed that he was nervous and sweating profusely. Blockton denied being involved in the robbery but admitted that he did have a firearm on his person. Officers recovered a loaded Glock pistol along with several bags of marijuana. Blockton was arrested and charged with felony drug offenses and unsworn falsification to authorities. It should be noted that while Blockton did have a permit to carry a firearm, it is illegal to own or possess a firearm if you use illegal drugs, thus the reason Blockton was charged with that offense. Hello again HPers, East End Cooperative Ministry, located in East Liberty is offering landscaping services through our EECM WorkForce and Work Therapy program. Work Therapy provides individuals in poverty with the opportunity to learn essential job skills while overcoming the many barriers of poverty. EECM WorkForce provides part time (and hopefully full time!) jobs to individuals graduated from the Work Therapy program. We currently offer a few services: 1. Commercial cleaning services for businesses, office buildings, strip malls, etc. 2. Landscaping services for businesses, office buildings, etc. 3. Landscaping services for Highland Park and East Liberty residents. - This is new! We typically offer only business services, but we've had some requests for residential yard maintenance. So if you're a business owner looking to contract out these services, or a homeowner who needs grass cutting help - call us! You'll receive the services you need while supporting a great organization and helping individuals break the cycle of poverty. Hello Highland Parkers, Nestled in East Liberty is a gem of an organization - East End Cooperative Ministry. EECM is an interfaith organization dedicated to creating a community of opportunity in Pittsburgh. One of the main groups we work with are urban youth who have grown up in poverty, surrounded by violence, drug use, and premature death. EECM's in school supports, after school enrichment and tutoring, arts programs, and social and emotional groups help children and youth learn that they can dream and plan for a life free of violence and drug use. Enter EECM's Summer Camp. Summer can be a dangerous time for kids - the structure of school is gone and temptations loom large. Summer Camp provides the nurturing structure kids need to succeed. But to make that happen we need your help. EECM is launching our first crowdfunding campaign to support Summer Camp.
