Help with Garden

Hello Neighbors! The seven books that I pulled from the library are just not cutting it:)! I need a tutorial on my garden. I am hoping someone who loves gardening as a hobby would be able to teach me some basics. We are in a new house in Highland Park and have inherited a perennial garden that is overwhelming. My idea is that I would be working along with someone sometime in the weekday morning. Can possibly do a weekend as well. I would like to compensate you for your time, whether that be a barter ( I teach Linklater Voice, acting, public speaking) or buy you lunch or if it needs to be monetary please note that in your email to me. I would love knowledge on soil, how to cut back (should that be done), options for plants for the garden, how to winterize, etc. My plants and I thank you! Lisa
