Dear Neighbors, Uno, the black & white tuxedo cat ambassador of the 900 block of Chislett hasn't come home in several days, which is unlike him. If you've walked on our block, you likely know Uno--he's a super loving, friendly, soft little guy. We suspect that someone may have taken him into their own home, thinking that his desperate desire to have his belly scratched was a sign of being love-starved & a need of attention. La Gourmandine Bakery Breads and Pastries at Olive & Marlowe in East Liberty!

Just a reminder that, on the weekend, neighbors can get the city's best breads and pastries in East Liberty rather than going to the busy Lawrenceville bakery and waiting in a long line. We pick up fresh-baked goods on Saturday mornings and mark down by half anything left over on Sundays (there are ALWAYS leftovers; we overbuy to ensure plenty to take home and freeze for our family during the week). Our regular lineup consists of the following: traditional baguette, baguette sur poolish, cereal bread, olive focaccia, ciabatta, sarrazin (raisin walnut), croissant, almond croissant, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins, and brioche. If there's anything you'd like to special order for weekend pickup, simply call us at 412.362.1942 by the Thursday before so we can add it to our order. Open 10-6 Saturday and Tuesday-Thursday, 11-4 Sunday, 10-7 Friday, and closed on Mondays. 5975 Broad St., across from the Hotel Indigo construction site off of N. The market will be well stocked with local produce.  Of course the Kennedys will also have some great meat.  Wheel and Wedge has received several shipments of local cheese.  Stop by for some free home made pickles that were made with cucumbers from Zang's. Greenawalt Farm   Brian is in Somerset County today visiting the Amish farms.  Things are very plentiful so he will be overloaded with produce.  Items this week include tomatoes, pickles, cukes, new potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes (various types), broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, rhubarb, swiss chard, green onions, sweet onions, leeks and fresh herbs.  In the fruit department: apples, peaches, nectarines, plums.   Brian will also have a variety of "winter" squash.  Brian have some organically grown such as cabbage, sweet onion, shell peas and maybe others.   Greenawalt's always have fresh local eggs and many types of Amish canned items such as jellies and jams. They also have some cured meat items from Lancaster County.  Kistaco Farm- I was not able to connect with Tim but expect that he will still have some cider and apples.  He will also have a lot of locally grown items from his farm.     Bread from Wood Street Bread Co. is always available at the Kistaco stand.   Zang's Greenhouse... Rick have fresh sweet corn from McIlhinny Farm in Evans City.   Rick will also have fresh garlic, shallots, potatoes, green beans, wax beans, sweet onions, lettuce, micro greens, 5 kinds of kale, cukes and pickles, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, peppers and PA grown mushrooms.  In the fruit department:  nectarines, white and yellow peaches- all from Chambersburg.  Melons-  Watermelons and cantaloupes.  Rick will also have a few shipped in items to fill in the gaps.   Cucumbers are in good supply and in quantities suitable for canning.     California Connection-  We now have our full line of 2014 vintage oils to offer.  All are certified Extra Virgin by the Califorinia Olive Oil Council.  Four of the oils are also certified organic. Our offerings are: Corto Olive Fiueroa Farms- Organic Frantioi Figuero Farms- Organic Estate Blend Olio Nuevo- Estate Arbiquina Organic Arbequina Organic California Blend Stone House- House Blend California Dried Fruits and Nuts include:   New from California are freshly harvested and dried sour cherries. Hi, neighbors I just want to share my experience with Jim Abraham, The Bee Hunter. I saw a small hole on my yard and tiny bees flying around yesterday afternoon. I found the Bee Hunter on internet and called Jim. He scheduled me for this morning, came on time, explained us every detail, worked efficiently and in professional manner. His price was reasonable. We highly reccomend him when you find bee hives on your yard or any bee related problems.
