HP Listserv - Stereo face plate found

I found a nice car stereo face plate in my backyard in N. Saint Clair street this evening. I'm guessing it was stolen and tossed over our fence. update on shoes for Ghanian children

Hi Everybody, First of all, a big thanks to all those who have donated shoes for Ghanaian children. You all have saved me a lot of money which now goes to buying school and medical supplies. I am still short on shoes for children about age 7-13ish. Can anyone help? I am also buying some myself. It would be nice to have more. For those of you who missed my earlier emails, I've included them below. I talked about the significance of this project for the children's health and education. Please read if you haven't already. Thank you! Christine Hello Everyone, I will be leaving for Ghana at the end of June to work in an orphanage. The children there are sorely in need of shoes, in particular sneakers that protect them as they walk through water and mud. I will be buying some. But due to my own financial difficulties, I'm hoping that there are kind souls out there willing to chip in. If you have any gently used (or even new?) children's shoes which you don't need any more, please consider donating them. Here's a little background information. In Ghana, shoes are not just a matter of comfort. It is a health issue. Many children get sick from bacterial and fungal infection from walking through soil and dirty water with naked feet. There are also educational costs. Because of the social value Ghanaians place on shoes, children without them often aren't allowed to go to school. These are not exceptions, but the norm. The fact is, in Ghana, shoes can change lives. I am going there with the NGO International Volunteer Head Quarters (which, by the way, is a great affordable way to volunteer abroad). If anyone is wondering about the authenticity of this project (which I totally understand), I have an invitation letter from them to show you. Please email me if you have any questions and/or donations. I will try to collect as many shoes as I can carry. Once I reach that limit I'll send out an email saying so. I hope to hear from many of you soon. Best, Christine Hello Everyone, I'm so touched and exited by all the responses I've been receiving! Here's a bit more info that I should have included before. The childrens' age range is 3-16yrs. I'm not sure what sizes they are. (I don't have kids.) From what I've read that's 9 - 7.5 for boys and 8 to 6.5 for girls. Is that right? I'm primarily looking for sneakers and tennis shoes. In general shoes that are enclosed, to keep out dirt and water. So sandals or perforated shoes wouldn't be a good idea. Also, the more collapsible the shoes the more I can carry. I do not yet have a number on how I can carry. I am looking for a bigger bag, and see what I can do.
