[Highland Park] 3rd Annual April Fools Challenge Race

Dear Community Members, I see many of you out on the roads and paths of Highland Park exercising and training for upcoming events like 5Ks and the Pittsburgh Marathon. I'm always impressed to see you braving the snow and ice. I thought you also might be interested in a mud race challenge. It's the premier challenge race in Allegheny County, and the most affordable. The format includes obstacles, challenging terrain and mud! The race and obstacles are designed to be physically challenging, not dangerous! Here are some race details: *When:* Sunday, April 6th 2014 *Start:* Racing begins at 10 am (Registration at 8:30 am) *Where:* Founders Field - 101 Eisele Road, Cheswick, PA 15024 *Registration Fee:* $40 individual (early bird until Feb. 28th). This includes a free shirt, your insurance fee, giveaways, a post race beverage (a cold beer for those 21+, bring your ID). All spectators are encouraged to attend. It is free to watch! [Highland Park] Snow plowing

Does anyone know of any *effective* way to get the city to pay more attention to the side streets in Highland Park when we have snow on the ground? I just drove home from the Waterfront, and saw that most of the side streets in Squirrel Hill on my route home had been thoroughly plowed. Meanwhile, trying to make it up to the top of Hampton St using a gradual climb, I had to change my route multiple times because of cars that had skidded out on the unplowed roads and were blocking the streets. I tried 311, but they are closed on the weekend. Thanks!

Hello Highland Park Neighbors, This is the Shameless Commerce Division of Girl Scout Troop 54281 out of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. I have a living room full of Girl Scout Cookies and would love to fulfill your cookie needs. Cookies are $4 per box. Almost half of the proceeds go to supporting the Girl Scout Council of Western PA, their programs and camps, and $.70 per box goes to the Troop. Comcast Xfiity retention representatives are going door-to-door today. They just got me to switch offering pricing not available online. I'm now getting phone, Internet and cable (that includes boxes for 4 TVs and their top package to receive ALL sports, all movie channels, etc) for 100.00 cheaper per month than what I'm currently paying with Verizon. It's a 2-year deal that will go up $25 the 2nd year, and then you're contacted to re-up after that. Maybe consumers can finally catch a break from the service provider competition. If interested, I'd be happy to share what I had and was paying vs what I have now, as well as the rep's contact info whom I worked with today.
