For Our Neighbors in Highland Park- My daughter Ella received her babysitting/lifesaving certificate from the Red Cross at Childrens Hospital in May of this year. She attended the babysitter course because she had already accepted a summer job as the sitter to a newborn. From June thru September, she babysat a newborn every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12/1-5/6. She is still watching that child on Saturdays from 1030-3. She also babysits her 3 1/2 and 1 year old cousins once a month. Prior to that she had a fair amount of experience watching and playing with young, third and fourth cousins and the young children of friends. Ella is looking for occasional work babysitting on Fridays after 6pm, Saturdays after 4pm and most any time before 8/9pm Sundays. She charges $7 per hour. Her current employer will give her an EXCELLENT reference. She will be thirteen next month but is very mature and level headed when dealing with small children and she takes any work ($) related task very seriously . However, because of her age, I will insist on meeting anyone for whom she is contemplating working before she will be allowed to commit.
