Community Forum with new Pittsburgh Police Chief Tonight

The second of two “community conversations” with acting Pittsburgh police Chief Cameron McLay is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 17 at Pentecostal Temple, 6300 East Liberty Blvd. Residents should bring their questions, concerns and suggestions for how the department should operate, said organizer Tim Stevens of the Black Political Empowerment Project. He said he intends the discussion to be a constructive one. During the first session, held a week ago in the Hill District, residents asked about preventing racial profiling, increasing the number of officers walking beats and plans for hiring more minority police officers. McLay told the gathering his goal is to close the gap between the police and the community. Mix of colors and prints, very few solids, some holiday, no duplicates. Hello neighbors, This coming Saturday we will have a very interesting program on the ancient art of Ikebana. This is a unique opportunity to discover this artful form of flower arranging. Our speakers will be Maggie Lin, Professor in the Ikenobo School of Ikebana and president of Ikebana International, Pittsburgh Chapter and Karen Yee, Professor in the Ikebono School of Ikebana (flower arranging). Ms Yee has served as president of the Ikebono Society of Pittsburgh and has taught classes at Carnegie Mellon University and exhibited at various venues in Pittsburgh and Japan.
