Global Solutions Pittsburgh Presents Global Challenges and Local Impacts: Human Trafficking January 16th at 6:30 PM (Doors 6 PM) In the Atrium of the Union Project, Stanton and N Negley Panelists include Kelly Kochamba, FBI Human Trafficking Coalition Judy Hale Reed, Duquesne University School of Law Susy Robison, Homeless Children's Education Fund This discussion will focus on the different aspects of human trafficking, including modern day slavery, law enforcement and non-profit groups working to combat this activity, and the exploitation of victims. Description: The UN defines human trafficking as "all acts related to the recruitment, transport, sale or purchase of individuals through force, fraud or other coercive means for the purpose of economic exploitation." This activity is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights, not to mention the 3rd largest and fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. Traffickers target undocumented migrants, oppressed groups, runaways and at-risk youth, and the poor most frequently. A little known fact is that currently there are more slaves today than during the height of the Transatlantic slave-trade. This discussion will focus on the different aspects of human trafficking, including modern day slavery, law enforcement and non-profit groups working to combat this activity, and the exploitation of victims. [Highland Park] Witness to Bloomfield hit and run

Hi neighbors, I know this isn't HPV related but on June 27, 2013 at around 11pm a person in a black jeep hit my Parke car and fled. There was one witness, a male in his 20s with sandy brown hair and glasses wearing a lighter colored blue and white flannel style shirt. I panicked and ran out the door to get the actor plate and my friend unfortunately didnt think to get this guy's information. My claim has been denied by insurance and I really could use this guy. If anyone happens to be that guy, or if anyone reading could ask friends that patronize Lou's if they saw this I would be so thrilled. My car has had four hit and runs last year, and im truly fed up. [Highland Park] La Gourmandine bread available in East Liberty starting this weekend

Since I know many of you would prefer to not trek over to Lawrenceville, even for some of the best bread in the city, I've decided to carry a selection of La Gourmandine's breads in our store, Olive & Marlowe in East Liberty (5975 Broad St., Indigo Square, directly across from the hotel construction at Broad and N. Highland). Come by on Saturday and pick up some freshly-baked baguettes, cereal bread (with sunflower, flax and sesame seeds), or olive focaccia, and maybe a little olive oil to go with them. [Highland Park] seeking parking near busway

With the closing of the Stevenson parking lot in East Liberty (where I used to have a monthly lease for $60), I can no longer find any parking near the East Liberty busway, where I catch my bus for my commute downtown. Having already invested in my annual bus pass for 2014, I am desperate to find somewhere to park and ride. Please let me know if you are aware of any public parking in the area (other than the two rows at Giant Eagle that fill up well before I put my son on the schoolbus and head to work), or of any owner of a private parking space that might be interested in leasing it during the day.
